id rather see frenkie receive where he can turn and carry. if someone else holds behind him, he doesnt have to start every move next to the cbs nitter.cf/BarcaUniversal/status/…
🚨 Hansi Flick: "Difference between Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal? For us, I think Frenkie can also play in a different position; he doesn’t necessarily have to play as the holding midfielder."
"But the two are similar. Frenkie may have more experience, but both are confident and have personality on the ball, and in that respect they bring us a great deal."
"Bernal also plays very well off the ball and knows exactly where he needs to be. As I’ve already said, I’m very happy with him. But I’m also pleased to have Frenkie back and available again."
"In training, I can see that he’s at 100 percent. So we have to find the right starting lineup. We’ll talk about it later, perhaps today or tomorrow. We have time to make these decisions."
id judge the midfield pick by what happens after we lose it. progressing the ball matters, but someone has to stay behind pedri nitter.cf/FCBarcelona/status/211…
🗣️ Flick: "I still don't know who will play in midfield. Frenkie has a lot of quality, but so does Bernal. He's done very well over the last few games."

good to see a return getting closer. id rather see him build a steady run of games than rush straight into first team expectations nitter.cf/BarcaTimes/status/2118…
🚨🎖| 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍: Sama Nomoko is in the FINAL STAGES of his recovery from the ACL injury he suffered in December 2025. He is already training with the ball and is expected to return in January. The club highly values the young winger and are working on his renewal. [@gbsans, @scapde_45] #fcblive
150 games for fermin. having a midfielder who runs beyond the striker gives the cbs another decision to make, not just another player in front of them nitter.cf/barcacentre/status/211…
🚨 Fermín López: "I would never have imagined reaching 150 games with the first team of Barça and hopefully there will be many more." [@mundodeportivo] 🎙️
gavi at 6 is interesting. id watch what happens when he steps out to press. someone still has to protect the pass through the middle nitter.cf/barcacentre/status/211…
🚨 Pablo Gavi is a serious option to replace the injured Rodri in the starting XI. He played there at the end of last season, when FC Barcelona secured the league title. [@JoanPoquiEraso]
first thing im watching vs atleti is who stays behind the ball when both fullbacks push up. losing it with no cover is the risk nitter.cf/FCBarcelona/status/211…
would love him to stay. as he gets older id rather manage his pressing minutes than lose his runs into the box nitter.cf/FabrizioRomano/status/…
de la fuente leaving gavi out is about rhythm not talent. between the lines intensity only comes back with club minutes first
pol planas leaving juvenil a for dinamo zagreb first team. thats how you know the academy coaching pathway actually works
gordon england, cancelo portugal, bernal u21, frenkie netherlands. intl break right after atleti is gonna stretch the squad thin
raphinha 8w 1d in 10 vs atleti + training day ahead of metropolitano. the press-9 role is built for simeone walls
england call up after those inside runs vs villa. left wing under flick finally looks like a real option nitter.cf/barcacentre/status/211…
🚨 International watch: Anthony Gordon has been called up by England for their upcoming Nations League games. [@England] 🏴
bernal came on at ht vs villa and reset the first pass under press. u21 call makes sense after that nitter.cf/BarcaTimes/status/2118…
xavi calling frenkie for nl after the step by step return. progressive pass from deep still unlocks when hes fit nitter.cf/BarcaTimes/status/2118…
cancelo at lb covering gordon earned this. portugal gets the inverted fullback minutes barca been building nitter.cf/BarcaTimes/status/2118…
juvenil a coach straight into a first team job. masia pipeline isnt just players, coaches leave ready too nitter.cf/BarcaTimes/status/2118…
🚨| 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍: Barça U19 (Juvenil A) coach Pol Planas is leaving Barcelona to become Dinamo Zagreb’s new head coach. The coach will leave Barça with IMMEDIATE effect to take charge of the Croatian club’s first team. [@SergiPerez__] #fcblive
honestly this is the right call. gavi needs club rhythm and minutes between the lines before the nt shirt comes back nitter.cf/BarcaUniversal/status/…
8 wins in 10 vs atleti isnt luck. his press as a 9 pins their pivots so yamal gets the half spaces nitter.cf/BarcaUniversal/status/…
atleti away is where the high line gets tested hardest. simeone packs the box then runners in behind, this session is for that grind nitter.cf/FCBarcelona/status/211…
this is the real shift. he wants +1 in mid vs deep blocks, pure overlap fullbacks dont give him that nitter.cf/BarcaUniversal/status/…
🚨 Barcelona's tactical evolution under Hansi Flick is putting the futures of Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde in doubt.
Flick now wants full-backs who can move into midfield and create numerical superiority, rather than relying primarily on overlapping runs.
Balde's strengths in pace and attacking space have become less useful with pure wingers like Gordon and Adeyemi occupying the flanks, while Koundé also struggles to meet the new offensive demands.
Both could leave if suitable offers arrive.
