Shoutout to Star One. A channel which atleast dared to try & experiment with so many new originals across genres. In 2004, at a time when Saas-Bahu serials were completing for TRPs, it actually thought about coming up some offbeat and urbane shows. Some of those were: (Remix, Sarabhai, Detective Omkar Nath, Hotel Kingston, DMG, Special Squad, Laughter Challenge, Mano Ya Na Mano etc) Even though it was functional for just 7 years, it prioritised stories over commercial business, something that was bold & rare. It was always gonna be difficult for it to sustain over a period of time (given the type of shows), but the fact that it happened is great.
