You can do this, too. Steps that I took:
1. Find all unused package.json dependencies and remove them.
2. (If monorepo) De-duplicate any dependencies where you see multiple direct versions.
3. Calculate the largest contributors to our transitive lockfile closure from our direct dependencies.
4. Using 3's data, find low risk, high impact candidates that we can upgrade through minors/patches to reduce our transitive lockfile closure.
5. Using 3's data, find dependencies with trivial usage that we can inline.
6. Take a look at e18e\.dev to see if you can eke out any extra removals/replacements.
The above are summaries of the actual prompts I gave to GPT 5.5 (xhigh) in OpenCode to get you started. I ran these agents in the background while I was doing mainline work. Really good ROI. My bet is that if you did this in your repo and gave it real attention, you could end up with much larger reductions.

ALT :quality-intensifies: For those keeping score, removals in vercel/<repo> in this thread: -34 direct package.json deps -5,183 lines of pnpm-lock.yaml (-6.5%) -504 package entries (-7.6%) - :star: This is (net) 504 fewer points of pwn-ability for <repo> -17,332 files of node_modules (estimated) -2,469,373 lines of node_modules (estimated) This makes <repo> more secure, faster, and easier to work with. I have to head back to Turborepoland now, but let it be known: - This took ~4 hours of my attention. - There are many, many, many more candidates in <repo> (and beyond!) that could get this treatment. :delete-this:

As the year 2025 draws to an end, I wanted to give a big THANK YOU and show my gratitude 🙇 to the @SvelteSociety London and @cityjsconf communities - esp @spences10 @arismarko @dan_starns who helped me get into these communities when I was a newbie to London's tech communities in 2022!!
Now I sit in gray and rainy (but jolly!!) Manchester 🌦️, and I'm only able to make my pilgrimage to London's tech communities about twice a year - but I still relish when I'm able to connect with old friends - @onlyspaceghost @cainux . In case you're new to London and want to join an active and friendly tech community - reach out to any of them!
CityJS London is around the corner now. So in case you're interested in joining one of the best conferences in the world, sign up for it by searching for "CityJS London" online as well!

It's done. Now it’s your turn, @Oracle.
We’ve submitted a formal petition to cancel the JavaScript trademark: it is generic, Oracle has abandoned it, and Oracle committed fraud on the USPTO during the last trademark renewal.
Oracle has until January 4th to respond, or the case will go into default, which will result in the trademark being canceled.
It's time to #FreeJavaScript.

v0.23.0 Release - github.com/pocketbase/pocket…
This is a major refactoring and introduces a lot of changes - new (and hopefully simpler) Go/JS APIs, new hooks allowing better control over the execution chain, batch Web API, OTP and MFA support, builtin rate limiter and many more.

Just published Parcel's resolver crate! It's one of the fastest Node-compatible module resolvers written in Rust. Tons of features including tsconfig paths and moduleSuffixes, extension rewriting, aliases, package.json exports, etc. 🚀

Twitter made my career.
It gave me the opportunity to share my work and thoughts with the world, got my dream job, met so many amazing people, earned my reputation, and built my influence -- all through this platform.
I deeply appreciate that.
Should I ever leave this platform? From a practical standpoint, definitely no. Who wants gave up there years efforts on building up the connections?
But it's not the numbers, nor the platform itself, that define us. Twitter is no longer the Twitter it was, I feel sad about that. I just wish we could have a good environment for sharing, discussing technology, and focusing on building great software together as a community.
I never think you should stop using X because of anyone - it remains a valuable source of various information. And I don't see myself leaving X entirely either, but I do believe we deserve better for tech discussions.
I’m happy to see many of my friends share the same sentiment. The new space we’ve found is warm and welcoming. I sincerely invite you to give it a try and take a look there. Of course, even if you decide to stay, you will still see me around. Either way, it’s about the people, it's about us. I wish you happiness, and no hard feelings.
Cheers
