Economic impact of the creative industries is the focus of today's collective action for #CultureMakes. At the heart of the work we do at Proteus is the ongoing support of artists, giving them the ability to create new work & sustain a career in the arts #creativeindustries

This is what 'intelligence-led' policing & 'not making a martyr of anyone' looks like This is what letting tech companies fill people's eyes with bigotry & hate looks like It's what letting the same men organise hate for years without consequence looks like. We deserve better

It's bizarre that he can't see how he wasn't repressed because he he played by the rules and values of the Catholic church. His place in society meant it was in his own interest to play by those rules.
We are now being led to believe that the average Irish person was being repressed by the Church right into the 1990s. I was born in the 1960s and I can assure you that few if any of my contemporaries, male or female, seemed too 'repressed'.

Absolutely devastating news about Abdul Shayek. I was a great admirer of his work. Thoughts to all who loved him.

Was glad to have been able to be in Bray this week and visit one of Sinead’s last homes. The grief at her passing just keeps rolling.

Nothing Compares last night. Noel Browne documentary tonight. Two painful examples of what the theocratic Irish state would do to justice seekers. It’s a lot to take.

Every woman, definitely every Irish woman, who has pointed out a hypocrisy or injustice in public life, recognises the noise Ryan makes here that says "Shut up now and stop making trouble for yourself". Sinead's face at the end says it all.

We've lost more than a person. Sinéad O'Connor's art, what she stood for, and how she stood for it, changed so much for so many people. I'm devastated by her loss, and holding on to her lessons. irishtimes.com/culture/music…

why is everyone saying sinead "battled her own demons?" she was one of very few brave enough to battle real demons: child predators, those who protected them in God's name, homophobia, greed that kills..... she battled demons, yes- but they were us, not her.

Oh this. This, this. She was the future moving through the present. As a child you could sense it.
Every gay kid in Ireland in the late 80’s instantly knew what she represented - what she embodied- was revolution. Your older brothers couldn’t see it but we could: she was the future moving through the present. She only had to open her mouth and mountains fell.

She was also An Actual Victim of Cancel Culture, not whichever loads of grifters claiming that about themselves. The whole world bullied her, for using her platform to highlight atrocities. – at South Dublin, Ireland
