Been looking at @Tera_Map TERA is a live multiplayer 3-D world — a metaverse you can walk around in with other people, in real time — and that world is divided into 3333 pieces of land the money those stocks make is shared out across every parcel whose deed is signed @tera_map

Creator upgrades are coming. Stocks are coming. More reasons to launch. More reasons to trade. More platform fees flowing to $UBI holders in $USDC. UBI is about to get a lot bigger. 💙 @arc

Deep dive on the second major upgrade (the first being the previous Hybrid Zone Market Making module we recently integrated) to the Moonbeam engine and the upcoming integration: the Adaptability Upgrade. What is the Adaptability Upgrade (AU from now on)? The AU is an upgrade to the logic layer of the Moonbeam engine that allows it to more efficiently and effectively ebb and flow with the market and provide better results for nuances that are previously overlooked. In short, the AU is a supercharger for the current Moonbeam logic system and allows the engine to perform optimally in all conditions ranging from quiet sideways trading to highly-volatile conditions. The AU is a logic layer insert between market data and the core engine functionality; this logic layer reads the data and builds the most optimal decision before routing that decision to the Moonbeam engine to enact upon (image 1). How does this upgrade work though? The AU operates through four interconnected subsystems: 1. Hysteresis (regime transition smoothing) 2. Auto-tuned epoch duration 3. Volatility decay functionality 4. Dynamic sigma recalibration These core subsystems of the AU logic layer insert create a much more expansive area for the Moonbeam engine to account for nuances in data and price action and to build the most intelligent outcome rather than sticking to the current Moonbeam formulaic decision trees. Let's dive into each of the subsystems. 1. Hysteresis: this subsystem, also known as regime transition smoothing, essentially adds buffer zones BETWEEN regime boundaries (sigma bands) to prevent oscillation. This is intended to prevent small fluctuations and constant and rapid state changes. If you have watched the Engine Monitor on the Moonbeam website during periods of high volatility, the epoch has a rapid amount of state changes (changing from event A -> B -> back to A -> back to B, etc) in a short amount of time. This subsystem smooths out those transitions and makes it so price must decisively move into or out of a regime before the core Moonbeam engine acknowledges it as the proper regime swap. 2. Auto-tuning Epoch Duration: this subsystem accounts for volatility nuances and adjusts the epoch length (when in the epoch driver phase of the dual-driver engine) based on *realized* volatility where higher volatility results in shorter epochs to capture and stabilize the system more efficiently and effectively; lower volatility results in widened epoch lengths to reset the sigma bands as these periods do not require engine intervention. Formula: T_epoch = T_base * (vol_target / vol_current) 3. Volatility Decay Functionality: similar to the Hysteresis subsystem but in a different vein, this subsystem allows the Moonbeam engine to smooth *volatility* events rather than regime transitions (in the Hysteresis subsystem). After volatility spikes (whether from large wallets selling, cascades, influencer calls causing buying, etc), this prevents the system from being over-sensitive immediately after the high-volatility event and prevents the engine from being susceptive to an aftershock of the volatility event. Formula: σ(t) = σ_spike × e^(-λt) + σ_baseline × (1 - e^(-λt)) Where: λ = decay constant (~0.023, calibrated to ~30 minute half-life) σ_spike = volatility during the spike event σ_baseline = long-term average volatility 4. Dynamic Sigma Recalibration: this subsystem allows the core Moonbeam engine to now adapt the staple of its decision-making logic: the sigma bands. With this upgrade, the bands will now be able to match current volatility and market conditions rather than having an epoch-based static amount. Recalibration of the sigma bands come from four trigger conditions: volatility divergence (is the coin moving up/down past historical average), consecutive boundary hits (are the bands getting tested too much/are they too tight to account for full trade logic), prolonged neutrality (is there too much sideways action in a certain zone), sudden price shock (high spikes up/down out of nowhere). For the sake of being terse, another thread regarding the Adaptability Upgrade is coming to explain the benefits (in-depth), design decisions and architecture, limitations, etc. An additional thread is coming today regarding the third integration into the engine after the Adaptability Upgrade: the Perpetual Epoch Market Making module.
