🚨I believe in the death penalty, but justice that requires unsubstantiated assumption is not justice at all‼️ I MUST remain morally consistent and stand for the individual freedom of Texans as well as their rights to a fair & just trial, and that is why I vehemently oppose the execution of #RobertRoberson taking place at 6pm today. After doing a deep dive into this case, sitting through a 9 hour hearing, & meeting with statewide elected officials, I have never been more convinced that the justice system is on the verge of executing a potentially innocent man. Regardless of the one document you may have read, or the posts you see on X, this case isn’t the air tight case others make it out to be. It’s honestly not even close to being an airtight case. This is a situation where the DA from Anderson County who set the date for the death penalty couldn’t even remember the details of why the additional evidence that proves that all these claims of violence were unsubstantiated was thrown out by the court. This is a unique case whether people want to believe it or not. I’ve yet to talk to ANYONE who has a full understanding of what’s gone on in this case because the defense has been denied consistently in Anderson County from ever defending themselves in front of a jury. The original trial began with shaken baby syndrome, and yesterday the lead investigator against Roberson told me he made an egregious mistake and said on the record, “I stopped investigating the moment I heard shaken baby syndrome.” At that point NOTHING mattered, guilt was assigned, and Roberson’s legal council at the time FAILED to properly defend him. There is NO PROOF Nikki was beaten to death. This precious child has medical records that show breathing apnea, and it is recorded that her grandmother had to revive her just 2 weeks before the night she died, because she was suffering from a lung disorder. She also had bacterial pneumonia that she had been admitted to the hospital a week prior, and was given a drug from the doctor, that is now black labeled by doctors for children because it hinders breathing. Also, there were not multiple impact sights on her head. There was one goose egg that couldn’t be seen until her head was shaved from falling off of the bed in the middle of the night. Then pics were taken after they had installed a pressure relief pump from the top of her head because she had a brain bleed from a lack of oxygen. The lack of oxygen, blue lips, & lack of significant bruising on the exterior of the head point to brain death from lack of oxygen, which makes sense since she had a lung disorder, bacterial pneumonia, & was given drugs by a doctor that have been proven to make breathing more difficult for children. The testimony from Roberson’s ex-wife was given after she had lost custody of her children due to her drug addiction & other factors. She then went on to disappear & NOT contact Roberson or the children for approximately 10 years before making the accusations. She is quoted saying, “I’m coming back to Texas to get back at Robert because I lost custody of my kids.” The girlfriend’s testimony was also flawed and unsubstantiated. She also struggles with drug addiction, was compelled to testify with the threat of losing her children, & she later said she doesn’t even remember making those allegations! Contrary to the lies that are being spread, Robert has NEVER been convicted of a violent offense prior to this case & has NEVER been convicted of a violent offense since! NO JURY HAS HEARD WHAT I’VE JUST SAID! If we believe that we should have the death penalty, which I DO, then we must ensure that when it is administered it leads to JUSTICE! I hope Governor Abbott will issue a 30 day pause to give our justice system the opportunity to correct this mistake. I’m not saying he’s innocent, I’m saying we are NOT sure he’s guilty. I’ll say it again, justice that requires unsubstantiated assumption is NOT justice at all!
