👥It comes as organisations supporting survivors of sexual violence in Northern Ireland take part in a campaign challenging misconceptions about rape.
🗣Justice Minister @naomi_long said she believes the campaign will help raise awareness of the realities of sexual violence.
The Department of Justice has launched the second phase of its Rape Myths = Real Harm campaign.
Support organisations say misconceptions about sexual violence can make survivors doubt their own experiences or feel afraid to report what has happened.
The Minister said the campaign will challenge myths around rape, including those relating to what a survivor was wearing, their age or sexuality, whether they had previously consented to sexual activity, and whether an attack was reported straight away.
Videos featuring representatives from organisations including Nexus and Women’s Aid will be published across the Department’s social media channels.
More on-air and online.
