Here's the hardest Maths question on the 2026 Chinese Gaokao vs the 2026 American AP Calculus Exam
- USA Q6 - easy stuff! Sum a geometric series, differentiate it, bound the error. Textbook steps.
- China Q21: a grid of 1s and −1s, a rule invented for the exam. Prove the grid is fixed by its first row and column.
Everyone thinks Chinese students do rote memory... huge stereotype, its the other way round! The AP question uses advanced maths but only routine thinking.
China's question is a rigorous proof, really tough. This is a big reason why China is well ahead ot the US on scientific innovation now.
