I'm taking on consulting projects, starting in November.
Web apps, Rails, infra, and helping teams get results from AI.
Let's talk: ptrchm.com/work-with-me
Replying to @mikecernymedia @lexfridman
Yes! @p_ch built it! It's called RAWmakase and I've been using it to edit all my photos recently. Lightroom is no longer needed.
I made a local RSS feed reader for @omarchy, inspired by NetNewsWire:
github.com/pch/omafeed
Made my first Omarchy app: an RSS feed reader.
And, of course, it's written in Rust.
Inspired by NetNewsWire and the work of @jankeesvw and @paolino.
Built by the AI team of GPT-6 Astra & Opus 5.5.
Only two new features today, but implementing them completely bogged down both of my machines all day, so I'm glad they're finally here 😰
New in v0.4.10:
· new sky detection model (much better - still not great)
· camera profiles generated from in-camera JPEG thumbnails
The second one is pretty cool. It analyzes the in-camera JPEG embedded in the RAW file and builds a color profile based on it.
If you shoot with a Fuji camera using a film simulation, this will (mostly) recreate the film simulation look, without you ever having to import a *.dcp file from Adobe.
It's still experimental. Lots of cameras and edge cases to test.
(You can compare the result with the in-camera thumbnail by pressing Shift + \)
Give it a try and let me know what you think!

RAWmakase v0.4.9 is out:
· better handling of clipped highlights (still wip)
· better shadows (still wip)
· Lensfun lens profile database
· auto-stacking for camera bursts
· export folder as catalog
· fixes for the sky detection mask
· GNOME title bars on Wayland
Relase notes: github.com/pch/rawmakase/rel…
Lightroom parity achieved internally:
Looks like the only way to have AI features that are somewhat decent and not awfully slow is to offload them to a cloud service with heavy-duty GPUs.
Not sure how the setup could look like yet and whether I want to deal with that.

No release yesterday, but today we have two! 😂
I know some people are annoyed by frequent updates, so feel free to vent in the replies and watch the soothing video below.
What's new:
· better highlights and shadows! (still wip)
· Aperture-style magnifier
· navigator as a minimap, shown when zoomed-in
· multiple UI improvements
· first version of stacking
· auto settings and presets for the Library selection (first version)
· fixes for a startup crash on Windows
And a lot more.
v0.4.7: github.com/pch/rawmakase/rel…
v0.4.8: github.com/pch/rawmakase/rel…
Install for @omarchy, macOS, and (still) Windows.
Just look at how smooth and fast this is:

I want a system where bugs reported on GitHub are automatically fixed by agents:
· a new GitHub issue created
· a triage agent kicks in and decides what to do or asks for more details
· if it's a new feature, let me sign off or plan first
· if it's a real bug, hand off to an agent and start fixing immediately 💥
It needs isolated mac and linux boxes with auto-routing based on the type of issue. With access to the dataset.
The triage agent (cloud/github action) needs to be able to trigger a new agent thread on a local machine.
Maybe I should pull the trigger on that mac mini. And another mini PC...
Haven't evaluated any cloud options yet.
Not sure yet how to do all that, and asking AI is giving me too many cool ideas. Don't want to reinvent @AmpCode for desktop.
Any recommendations?
This is *really* cool: nitter.cf/hameonline/status/2115…
But too expensive for a non-commercial project. Watching closely, though.
Amp now has macOS Satellites!
Agents can now spawn Macs and build, test and run your iOS and macOS applications on them.
Rolling out now.

Machine labor exploitation continues.
Highlights of v0.4.6 - the "DHH's 3%" edition:
· export filename templates (e.g. YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS CAMERA-MODEL.jpg)
· improved brush masks
· adjust tone sliders with +/- keys
· support for Canon EOS R8 Mark II (h/t @NimaiMalle)
· "report issue" button
· multiple improvements, bugs fixed, new ones introduced

Try it on:
· Linux (Omarchy transparency config info added to README)
· macOS
· or - God forbid - Windows
Fable 5.1 is making some progress on the highlights and shadows front.
Still not great, but Fable 5.5 might crack it 😉
Slop machines know no rest.
v0.4.5 ships major improvements to lens corrections.
RAWmakase now applies lens corrections embedded in RAW files by cameras: distortion, chromatic aberration, and (for many models) vignetting.
No need to import Adobe *.lcp profiles anymore - but you still can, if you want.

Yesterday's release (v0.4.4):
github.com/pch/rawmakase/rel…
If you notice any bugs, open a detailed issue on GitHub. Don't complain here 😉
Next, back to work on:
- built-in film simulations and presets
- built-in camera profiles
- missing file management tasks
The highlights/shadows parity research agents have been going in circles, making minimal progress. Need to try a different approach. Or wait for Opus 6.5.
