Do not be scared; rejoice in that you may witness the end times, for in the small blip in the universe that is humanity, it's end will be its only significance.
Omarchy is focused on devs. To really have year of the Linux desktop you need normies, and to get normies you need gaming to work flawlessly. For gaming cachyos is an infinity better out of the box experience. Things just work. For 99% of normies a preconfigured cachyos install is gonna work way better than omarchy.
Ik there’s been a lot of criticism around Omarchy, and some of it is definitely valid. But I genuinely believe it has the potential to bring the year of Linux desktops.
It’s obviously opinionated, and you’ll either love or hate the aesthetics, but that’s kind of the point. DHH just needs to keep following through, maintaining it, and polishing the rough edges.
The biggest thing Omarchy gets right is removing friction. Everything is preconfigured and ready to go. For a normal person, the experience can be awesome. You just get a beautiful, functional Linux environment out of the box. And now that you can remove the preinstalled apps you don’t want, it’s even easier to make it your own. My machine is ridiculously old(only 4 gigs of ram), so I personally stick to a bare-bones setup. I just wish I had a better machine rn.
Maybe the reason new anthropic models are so hard to talk to is because they've been prototyping this?
We’ve written an FAQ to answer some of the questions we've received about watermarking.
In summary:
• We’re implementing watermarking to comply with the EU AI Act. Other major model developers have signed the same Code of Practice and will also be implementing watermarking;
• Our watermarking method doesn’t have any practical impact on the quality or content of Claude’s outputs;
• The difference between watermarked and un-watermarked text will not be distinguishable to readers;
• Nothing is added to the text and there are no hidden characters;
• Watermarking doesn’t require extra tokens, and will not be more expensive;
• Watermarks can’t be traced to a specific person, organization, or chat.

Why does codex default to using anthropic models when building an agentic harness lol (it chose claude-sonnet-4-6 as the default, like wtf)
yknow people think the circular financing bubble of AI is an issue, but the global circular financing bubble of modern monetary policy seems waaaayyy bigger and waayyy less stable tbh
This seems like the most basic thing to loop, like ralph loop 101 no? kinda weird coming from the loop masters

Are you starting to get it now?
Ken Griffin to stick with Park Ave. skyscraper plans despite Mamdani's personal attack, anti-business policies trib.al/PlUoGdN
This is bullshit. EA is a justification for preserving the current power structure, because that's the most good that can be done within practical constraints. It completely overlooks and lacks empathy for other perspectives. Just look at how Dario talks about China.
Billions of dollars are about to flow into Effective Altruism.
Anthropic was founded on EA principles, and its founders pledge to donate 80% of their wealth when the company IPOs. They also match employee equity donations. Plus, last year, six EA-aligned grantmakers deployed $1.25 billion.
EAs believe, essentially, that every sentient being, across every place and time, holds the same moral claim on every other.
This logic, as @WilliamThibeau notes, only works if Americans deprioritize everything that keeps our civilization intact: nation, family, religion, tradition…
As such, EA’s success entails the disintegration of America. It’s fundamentally at odds with nation building.
If AI labs are our strategic national assets, Congress must start scrutinizing their philosophical underpinnings, and the philanthropic networks surrounding them. Full story 👇
Everyone knows about grill-me now, so that their agents fully understand the requirements you had in mind, but not enough people know to grill the agents so that you really understand what's being built
I hate the feeling of no longer being fully in the loop.
I tell agents to debug an issue. They explain what goes wrong. Propose a solution.
That's sure a lot of jargon. Do I fully understand what they're saying? Kind of. But certainly not like if my mind was solely focused on that bug fix, instead of juggling 5 other threads.
I tell them to do it. Make the fix, create a PR, the usual.
Is their solution really the right approach? Will they not include a dumb invariant that might later bite me in the ass?
Glancing at code, it *seems* fine. But I'm not sure. I'd have to go way deeper into the issue to be able to tell. But that would defeat the purpose of having agents do the thing instead of me. That'd be *inefficient*.
So I merge it in, and move on to the next thread.
Forever falling behind so I wouldn't fall behind.
Why the fuck does bro need to understand tricky code if he only writes loops nowadays? 🤔
This week I watched:
1. One Battle After Another - this movie was pretty good, would recommend.
2. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery - Netflix keeps cranking out slop. A whodunnit where the baddy is obvious from minute 1. The first knives out was fun, but I think its time to let this one die.
3. Finally finished Pluribus. Of course its a good show, but at least for now, it hasn't hit the same as Breaking Bad or BCS for me. Will see how it goes in season 2.
