“Apple Quietly Updates Older MacBook Images to Highlight the Notch” Absolute clowns at this point. macobserver.com/news/apple-q…

MacBook gets a new, totally optional way to interact with it and the usual crowd is deeply upset about it. I don’t get it.

“designing much faster than the others” — this so daft and makes it clear they don’t understand design at all. “Designing fast” (or slow) is just not a thing. If you conflate “producing ui by piecing together stuff” and “design” then the former (which is a form of assembly-line practice) can surely be fast or slow.
What makes the practice of design challenging is not how to put a ui or poster together, it’s what the pieces are, what the message is, what is being communicated, how it all works together.
So many of today’s “design” AI tools focus almost exclusively on the production part, on putting stuff together. I’d love to see an AI design tool that forms a deep understanding of a problem over the course of days or months and works like a creative partner. Call me on my bullshit, thinks about the whole, isn’t concerned really about the final arrangement of elements as much as it would understand the story and the message.
Revolut's designers are moving off Figma.
Storonsky spotted one team designing much faster than the others. What they did:
1. Gave an LLM Revolut's design system at the code level
2. Prompted it to build new flows on top of that system
3. Got a live interface they can click through on a laptop or phone, instead of static frames
Result: 3-4x faster. Now he's pushing it to every designer at Revolut.
His job, as he describes it: find what works in one team and spread it across the company.

PLEASE stop making bots that send random PRs to open source projects. If it's fixing something you are actually going to use that's one thing, but if you're just going through issues and making PRs without even discussing with the maintainers first that's wasting everyone's time. We're now getting 10-20 PRs per day from bots alone. I really don't want to turn off external PRs entirely, including for good contributors. Don't ruin open source for everyone.

can someone explain to me why this is the official photo of the Swiss Federal Council
This is so dumb, @Apple. Can't use Siri AI on a Mac because I don't want to set my computer *region* to the US? I'm not in the US!

I have received word that all node editors are now required to implement wire ties.
Whelp, glad I noticed this before Amazon made my Kindle less useful. I guess that's the last Kindle I buy. reddit.com/r/kindle/comments…
The new iPad Mini is still on a 60Hz display and has zero battery life improvements over an iPad Mini 6 from 2021. You might think they're intentionally stifling it to promote the iPhone Duo. Sigh.

What in the black mirror has Jack Dorsey done?
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.
