Oh I'm sure he'd be saying the same about Ukrainians reacting to Russian hostility, invasion and murder
Ulster Unionist Party leader Jon Burrows MLA has hit back at Sinn Féin after North Antrim MLA Philip McGuigan spoke in the Assembly on Tuesday to accuse him of a “supremacist attitude”.
Jon Burrows said:
“Philip McGuigan read out a scripted attack on me in the Assembly this morning. He wants to talk about the past. Then let’s talk about all of it. Republican paramilitaries murdered more than 2,000 people during the Troubles. Across Northern Ireland there are families who still sit down to dinner with an empty chair at the table. In the video he posted today, Mr McGuigan had plenty to say about history and not one word for them.
“Yes, I am uncomfortable that so many people vote for a party whose leader still says there was ‘no alternative’ to the IRA’s terror campaign. I make no apology for that. Being uncomfortable with a result is not the same as rejecting it. I accept it, and I intend to change it at the ballot box. That’s what elections are for.
“What I will not accept is being called a supremacist by Sinn Féin. No one in Northern Ireland is a second class citizen. Disagreeing with Sinn Féin does not mean disrespecting the people who vote for them.
“I believe every murder was wrong, whether committed by republicans, loyalists or anyone else. No one deserved to die because of their religion or their job. Sinn Féin say they are sorry for every life lost. Sorry is not the same as wrong. Until they can say that every murder was wrong, without exception, they are in no position to lecture anyone on equality.
“No amount of name calling can hide Sinn Féin’s record in government. They run Infrastructure, Finance and the Economy. People want roads repaired, wastewater fixed and public services that work. Scurrilous accusations deliver none of those things.
“I will serve everyone in North Antrim, and the Ulster Unionist Party will stand up for people right across Northern Ireland. Sectarianism, racism and hatred are the opposite of patriotism.
“I’ll take no lectures from Sinn Féin on democracy, on equality or on the past. Everyone deserves equal respect, and far better government than this.”
John O'Dowd at Stormont today asking for political parties to put aside their faux outrage to focus on a budget to make the North of Ireland work for all, @JonBurrowsMLA @GRobinsonDUP obviously more evidence of a Nationalist politician not wanting the North to work for all🙄

Burrows says he finds it extremely uncomfortable that Sinn Fein receive so many votes, well I find it unpalatable that the UUP receive so many votes given their history of Sectarianism & their acceptance of the legality of the UDA during the troubles, when it murdered hundreds 🤨
