Proud to share our work on Boltz-2, the first AI model to approach FEP-level accuracy for binding affinity prediction, while being 1000x faster 🚀
Excited to unveil Boltz-2, our new model capable not only of predicting structures but also binding affinities! Boltz-2 is the first AI model to approach the performance of FEP simulations while being more than 1000x faster! All open-sourced under MIT license! A thread… 🤗🚀

1/ Today we’re launching an open letter calling on the government to end unfair restrictions that stop Britain’s best switching jobs or starting companies. UK AI companies that have raised $5bn agree: our best should be free to start and scale. 🧵 @downingstreet @biztradegovuk

@AnthropicAI just dropped Claude Science - it's code sized bet that biology will be the next domain transformed by RL and agents. It's also the best place to use the new @Boltz_Bio thanks to a native integration with their recently released API. Ask Claude to design an anti-venom against a deadly toxin or find a molecule that modulates an new disease pathway and let Claude figure out the rest. What a wild time to be alive!

This was a really cool product to work on. Using an agent to set up and launch molecular design campaigns feels like magic I'm especially excited about what AI science agents mean for education. I don't come from a science background, so joining Boltz to work on tools for scientists has meant diving into an environment of new concepts and jargon. Without LLMs, that barrier might have been impenetrable. I'm hopeful that young budding scientists and old guys like me making a career shift will use Claude Science + Boltz to learn about molecular design and experiment with vibe biology. Grateful for the opportunity to work on ambitious initiatives like this one with the great scientists and engineers on the Boltz team.

Your coding agent can now design molecules! We have shipped a first-party plugin that lets you run Boltz models directly inside @OpenAI Codex so that you don't have to leave your terminal or switch tools to do real molecular design.

I am really digging this kind of frank presentation of very impressive results from a startup. More of this please. Budding scientists take note. You can do impressive stuff while highlighting important caveats. It creates more trust.

Don’t get fooled: these designs are still far from zero-shot therapeutic biologics. BoltzProt-1 does not remove the need for downstream optimization, but it can give you a meaningful head start by reducing the time and cost required to reach strong starting points for your therapeutic program.

Great stuff. We need so much more of this kind of critical introspection. This kind of work actually helps drive science onward & upward faster. Less hype, more of this kind of real science.
We are releasing a blog post to highlight some of the challenges in classifying binders from denovo design models and to propose a more rigorous evaluation protocol from what we often observe in the field (including our own past work)! boltz.bio/experimental-proto…
