Here’s another reminder that the Sound of Music is a film conservatives should watch with their families annually.
The whole movie is about the complementarity of the sexes, highlighting masculine and feminine strengths and weaknesses, and how the sexes become something greater together than either naturally tends to be in isolation.
Captain Von Trapp’s firmness turned to harshness following the loss of his wife. Meanwhile, Maria’s romanticism caused her to be “flighty as a feather” until she found a man she could follow.
When Maria walks down the aisle to be married, the organ plays the reprise of “How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria?” with the implication that Von Trapp has a problem that needs solving, too.
The solution is a godly marriage, which heals their ills, restores joy to the home, and blesses the whole family.
(There are similar lessons in Rolf’s boyish idealism and Liesl’s naïevte, though their doomed relationship was not to be.)
Besides all of this, the film paints a positive picture of patriotism against the backdrop of Nazism. It shows the glory of music. And it has nuns who engage in just war tactics. What’s not to love?

Elder Dale G. Renlund opened Saturday afternoon of general conference with a heart-transplant patient who had survived a second donor heart, then complained about cold oatmeal the day before he went home.
That is the whole talk. We lose the bigger picture by staring at the immediate problem. The children of Israel did it too, overlooking blessings and promises, until the question was how long it would be before they believed God.
"Jesus overcame the world; we do not have to do so ourselves. When our faith is centered on Jesus Christ, He promises spiritual peace no matter our circumstances." Our hope rests on His faithfulness, not on our own. We can trust Him.
Ten minutes. I needed this one.

We had a kid in our friend group accused of SA in college. A year or so later, huge shocker, she admitted it was all fabricated to avoid getting punished for underage drinking.
Without any investigation, our guy was removed from the officer commissioning program where he was one of the most competent and widely loved students in his peer group, and basically blacklisted on campus.
She took everything from him (at the time), most importantly his reputation. Left without many choices, he decided to enlist, and worked his way up to become an officer in one of the most elite and storied units in American military history.
He was and still is a good man, and I'm glad it all worked out for him. But there's a certain level of damage done when you falsely attach certain labels to people that never goes away, even after they are cleared of all wrongdoing. You can tarnish in a millisecond what it takes a lifetime to restore.
It's clear why God prohibits bearing false witness against our neighbor. In many cases, it's more harmful than murder.

If we don’t take Jack Smith’s political weaponization of federal law enforcement as an opportunity to de-fang the government—and re-invigorate the Fourth Amendment—this will become the new normal.
NEW: DECLASSIFIED FBI Probe "PLASMIC ECHO"
- Appears to use FBI investigative tool known as a "Pen Register" to target phone calls of then campaign manager @SusieWiles47
- Allegedly tracked nearly two dozen defense attorneys, five journalists, @FLOTUS, political advisers including @FBIDirectorKash
- Administration official characterizes as "intrusive tactics" by special counsel Jack Smith team
- Probe laid groundwork for classified records case against President Trump
Pen Register Trap and Trace or PRTT
- Surveillance tool collects non-content routing data
- Phone numbers dialed or received
- Call times and duration
Two Scenarios
- Used for criminal and national security investigations
- lower standard than probable-cause warrant
Potential Violations
- First (Freedom of Speech) and Fourth Amendments (unreasonable search and seizure)
NOTE: Former Senior FBI agent says it looks like a classic FBI "tickle the wire" operation.
After FBI agents contact Wiles, the bureau tracks phone calls to identify who she immediately contacts
"On 10 April 2023, FBI WFO (Washington Field Office) reviewed WILES's telephonic activity to determine contacts of interest on the date of her FBI interview."

Mark Carney walked away from the US trade deal because of a clause that would allow America to decide who we can and cannot trade with. Which is fine, but at the same time Mark signed a deal with EU with exact same clause that now allows Brussels to decide who we can and cannot trade with.
So he walked away from from a country that buys 75% of our goods for a country that buys 4%
This is not a win!!

Muslim turnout in 2024 was about 80% of registered Muslim voters.
Christian turnout was about 56% of voting-age Christian adults.
The gap is not Muslims outvoting Christians. It is millions of Christians who could vote and do not.

THE WORST part of this successful docking in Gosport, Portsmouth Harbour, is that it’s set a precedent that it works.
Despite all the best efforts of local people over 100 migrants successfully docked. This means the powers that’s be know it can be done and we are now likely to see this more and more within our community.
Hampshire is clearly going to be the second home, in this nation, for illegal boat arrivals and it’s heartbreaking.
It’s heartbreaking because Portsmouth Harbour is the home of the Royal Navy. It’s our nations pride and joy. And we are allowing an invasion of foreign nationals in through the same waters
With the Hasler detention centre due to open next year to house up to 600 at one time this area is likely to be a hot bed for future arrivals and I’m just lost for words.
Our country is falling apart. Most normal people with common sense can see it clear as day. These people aren’t far right thugs. They are normal people who can see how bad things are getting and want to be heard.

A few days ago, we believed that without the heroism of the passengers on Flight 1073, the almost 180 people aboard, 27 of them children, would have been killed. Now we know that without the bravery of Capt. Smit Machchhar, Yaniv Hayun, Tzvika Mans and Assaf Rajuan, we would be facing a catastrophe likely worse than October 7.
Under interrogation, Hamam al-Hammami, the Omani co-pilot, confessed that after killing the pilot his plan was to fly a normal landing approach and, in the final seconds, when interception was no longer possible, crash the plane into Ben Gurion Airport. That is why, rather than striking at the outset, he attacked the captain only once the plane was over Jordan.
The flight was due to land around 9:30 a.m., at the height of Sukkot, when traffic through the airport peaks. Tens of thousands of travelers would likely have been in the terminal when it arrived, and the death toll could easily have run into the thousands. Under interrogation, al-Hammami admitted that on previous trips to Israel he had “gathered information,” perhaps on where a crash would claim the most lives.
Had he managed to crash the plane into the Saudi desert, as we originally believed was his intention, the aftermath would have been catastrophic. The day would have gone down as the second-deadliest terror attack in Israel’s history, with nearly five times the death toll of the third. The central artery of the Abraham Accords, the 30-flight-a-day corridor, would have been severed, and the steadily warming relations between the Emirates and Israel would have frozen.
Had his original plan succeeded, it would have been, by a wide margin, the worst attack in Israel’s history, and it would have closed far more than one flight corridor. Even if the physical damage at Ben Gurion could be quickly repaired, no airline would risk flying to Israel. The country would face an aviation isolation worse than anything it experienced even at the peak after October 7.
The tourism industry, barely hanging on by a thread after three years of war, would plunge into the abyss. Above all, the damage to the sense of safety of Israelis, chronic world travelers, would be incalculable.
The most obvious and striking parallel is that Israel almost had its own 9/11, nearly exactly 25 years after the first. Not in the loose, figurative sense in which the phrase is so often used, but literally: a plane turned into a weapon, with a death toll that may have been comparable to that disaster, and far greater relative to Israel’s population. And the effect would have been even more disastrous. The World Trade Center was a symbolic target, while Ben Gurion is the heart of Israel’s connection to the outside world. It would have done more to isolate Israel from the world than any single Hamas attack.
No thanks, medals or rewards are sufficient for the heroes who prevented what would undoubtedly have been the most devastating single attack on the State of Israel.

Again: this is objectively a bigger scandal than Watergate.
The main difference is that the
Democrat establishment & media happily look the other way when the DOJ is used to spy upon Donald Trump’s campaign chief, with no regard for the dangerous precedent set.
Former special counsel Jack Smith monitored the phone communications of Susie Wiles when she was Donald Trump’s campaign chief in 2024, newly released documents show.
This included her communications with at least five journalists, 21 different defense attorneys, and several political advisers, writes @FredLucasWH.

It's now the State-Sponsored Visa Pilot Program Act of 2026 (S.5197) sponsored by John Curtis the senator for Utah.
Thanks to @atreyu_reign for keeping us on target.
Replying to @WillHavePeace
Correction: The Heartland Visa Act (S.5644) is dead—it expired with the 118th Congress.
The bill to focus on now is S.5197, the State-Sponsored Visa Pilot Program Act of 2026. If you oppose it, contact your U.S. senators and Senate Judiciary Committee members and tell them to oppose S.5197 and its inclusion in any larger bill.

The covenants and ordinances of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ are spiritual credentials that can open wide the heavenly windows of opportunity to receive in our lives divine purpose, direction, and strength. They provide the opportunity for promised blessings, which require ongoing faithfulness.
The Holy Ghost is also described in scripture as the Holy Spirit of Promise who ratifies or confirms as acceptable to God the righteous acts of His children. Thus, ordinances and covenants must be sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise to be binding on earth and in heaven.
Just as you need an authorized stamp on a passport to enter a foreign country, so each of us needs the verifying witness of the Holy Spirit of Promise in order for us to receive the eternal blessings associated with the covenants and ordinances of the Savior’s gospel.
Receiving this ratifying sealing by the Holy Ghost typically is not a one-time event; rather, it comes over time as we repent sincerely and consistently, honor our covenants, and yield our hearts unto God.
Each of us should ever be grateful for sacred opportunities to “walk in all the ordinances of the Lord” (Doctrine and Covenants 136:4) and to receive by the Holy Spirit of Promise, “in process of time,” (Moses 7:21) the ratifying seal that guarantees all promised blessings.
