The film industry needs one of these as a camera ship.
Dialing in the Razorback’s braking and dynamics on home turf. No shortcuts. Just real-world testing.

This helicopter shot in Sound of Music is truly insane. Beyond the visuals, what actually went into getting this shot? Apparently the "monstrous helicopter" repeatedly knocked Julie Andrews to the ground because of its downwash.
There is zero chance you could get away with such a stunt using your lead actor with today's safety protocols, unless of course you used a drone. Who wants to try this?
Much respect to the pioneers for this act of bravery and to Julie Andrews who is badass for this.

Filming from a boat with a drone.
When does it make sense to use a drone and when is it better to use a crane boat?
Is there any special settings you want to use?
Easy ways to screw it up? Plenty. I’ll share some mistakes and some things to avoid.

Special settings? Yes for sure there’s a few.
Always change your return to home parameters to “Dynamic home point” and turn off your distance limits. Nothing worse than leading a boat and hitting your distance limit - you will stop and not be able to get out of the way.
Lost link with the drone for some reason? You don’t want it to fly 10km back to where it took off from, you want to buy yourself time to try and get your filming boat as close as possible to regain the link. Dynamic home point uses a continuously updated home position based on where the remote control is located.
On the Inspire 3 turn off your downward vision positioning sensors - the water messes with them.
Easy ways to screw up.
When landing we have decided best practice is to face the bow of the boat downwind and then idle throttle. Don’t worry too much about trying to keep the boat still, it’s almost better to go with the wind and land in ATTI mode, this way the wind will not be an issue upon landing.
Flat water with no wind = DANGER. The mirror effect is real and your distance to the ground should always be confirmed by your spotter when these conditions are present.
Work closely with the captain and make sure he has clear communication to the pilot. It’s a dance and positioning the drone boat is always a fluid changing situation, live communication is key.
Hope this helps someone one day! Trying something new on X. ✌🏻

All I want for Christmas is for someone to explain the difference between a NeRF and a 3D Gaussian Splat.

We 3D scanned an entire town with just ONE DRONE VIDEO and turned it into a NeRF using @LumaLabsAI 🪄 Then we brought it into @UnrealEngine and saw how CRAZY GOOD the detail was! 😎
Shoutout to @patweir for piloting the @DJIGlobal Inspire 3 and getting the sweetest footage 🙌
This is part of a longer video in which we compare the NeRF results of 2 different drones. It will be on our YouTube channel tomorrow 😎

Super excited for this tech to come to life!
