The Panel of Experts on Compensation for Victims of Human Rights Violations, including Demonstrations and Public Protests, led by Chairperson Prof. @makaumutua, paid a visit to Brian Mwangi Wangari in Ruiru, accompanied by Panel members, @IPOA_KE and @HakiKNCHR representatives.
Brian was shot in the neck during the Nane Nane demonstrations in Karatina, Nyeri County, on August 8, 2024, rendering him paralysed from the neck down and bedridden.

Today, the Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Human Rights Violations, Including from Demonstrations and Public Protests, engaged the @IPOA_KE and @HakiKNCHR leadership on accountability, justice, reparations and institutional collaboration. IPOA has been instrumental in investigating various cases involving affected victims, supporting the ongoing compensation process. Pres. @WilliamsRuto has an edge as the country gets into the campaign season.His ability to go down the Policy rabbit hole. None of his declared competitors exhibit such Policy mastery. We should see more forums! The presidency should explain itself, not just campaign for itself.
The president is at his strongest when he gets to unpack policy rather than compete for soundbites like his former Deputy. He can be methodical, data-driven and clearly enjoys the mechanics of government.
Seems the Presidential Town Hall rattled the political ecosystem, perhaps we need more of them. Next education, Agriculture,Housing,Finance,Infrastructure,Security. Kenyans then get the chance to really start interrogating Policy beyond the “Tutam” “Onetam” “Notam” soundbites
Pres. @WilliamsRuto has the policy range to engage these subjects in depth. His predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta was more spirited and politically instinctive, but rarely seemed interested in deep prolonged policy discussions. #HealthSummitKE
Town Hall’s are a useful reminder that Pres. @WilliamsRuto is the “Policy President” he has the patience&policy depth to sit down & explain government. A systematic communicator he likes the detail, the numbers& the architecture behind policy. We need more of these conversations
