10 days left to submit your answers to the #AiSurvey. We need your input to create an open access report on how librarians and infopros are using AI, gauge adoption and developments, and provide insights into what we, as a sector need to do next.

Thanks to @BBCRadioScot for speaking to @CILIPScotland this morning, listen again at 55 mins in bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001st…
All but 1 of Stirling's 17 libraries could close & be replaced by mobile book vans as part of cost-cutting plans. It's one proposal being considered by the local authority and could save up to £1.3 million a year.
We'll speak to @SeanJMcNamara1

A reminder that Elsevier made $10.5 BILLION in 2022 from selling your academic journals and articles behind paywalls, and make more profit than Amazon, Google, and Apple every year…
And paid the academics who wrote the articles $0
And paid the reviewers of the articles $0

A long read, but an important one.
One month after six local libraries closed across Aberdeen, affected citizens, especially those with limited mobility or resources, have struggled to adapt to life without them.
Here are their stories.

Great piece - thank you @ThatKerryHudson
Libraries matter. Libraries save lives. This is not about winning an argument with semantics, writes @ThatKerryHudson.

When is a library not a library? As hundreds of real libraries close down, these tatty old crates enrage librarian Katrina Robinson. (Me too!) #libraries Protect the #librarybrand #librarystaff #publiclibraries

Inspiring (but not surprising) to see pupils across Midlothian taking collective action to campaign for their school librarians. Follow their lead and add your voice to the consultation before 21st Feb:
Show your support for the pupil-led advocacy campaign, 'Save Midlothian School Libraries.' 📓They affirm that, "The school library is an essential service that pupils, teachers and the other staff in the school rely on, it is not just a room with books": cilips.org.uk/midlothian/

Why libraries are warm spaces & much more, the importance of them being open/funded and their role in a wellbeing economy.
Thanks to @heraldscotland for giving @CILIPScotland a chance to highlight this as part of the @scottishbktrust fundraising campaign heraldscotland.com/opinion/2…

100,000 children without a school library means 100,000 children forced to live with lowered horizons, lacking an essential safe space dedicated to literacy, creativity, inclusivity and sustainability. Challenge it with our @CILIPScotland Calls to Action: cilips.org.uk/call-to-action…
Read it and weep: No library for 100,000 Scots primary pupils despite Scot Gov drive

A train operates on the 1st Sunday every month between Holborn and Aldwych as the branch is technically still part of the network, ensuring the infrastructure and signalling are working correctly #MadeUpTubeFacts
King’s Cross and St. Pancras is the only tube station not to use the Johnson font - signage is in Gill Sans as a nod to the LNER #MadeUpTubeFacts

The support from the public to postal workers has been incredible. If you do not want mail from their strike breaking managers please print off this poster via the link and stick it on your door this Friday.
