We have some updates on our DDD paper. In our latest version, we have introduced three new applications and an open-source R package to facilitate the usage of all our DDD tools! 🚀R package: marcelortiz.com/triplediff/ 🔎Updated paper: arxiv.org/abs/2505.09942
🚨New paper alert🚨 My paper with @marcelortizv on "Better Understanding Triple Differences Estimators" is finally out. 📰 psantanna.com/files/DDD_OVS.… Main msg: Nuances in DDD designs challenge the practice of generally viewing DDD as the diff btw two DiDs. We can do better! 1/

Super excited to see this paper published in such a great venue!
When covariates are required for IV validity, usual IV may be misspecified and yield negative weights; interacted IV is often preferable. New paper by @TymonSloczynski restud.com/when-should-we-no… #REStud #EconX #EconTwitter

AI was supposed to make us work less I've never been this tired in my life most days I have up to 10 agents running at the same time. one fixing a bug, one writing pages, one refactoring something I already forgot I asked for, 3 other I have no idea what they are doing but i suppose i ask it? and I jump from conversation to conversation all day compared to 5 years ago, I probably context switch 100x more by the end of the day my brain is fried. completely toasted. nothing left, not even for the people I love I call it the fried brain effect thought it was just me but almost every founder I talk to lately says the exact same thing we got superpowers, and somehow the pressure only went up. if you can ship 10x more, you feel like you have to ship 10x more. every single day I don't have a solution honestly I have no idea where this goes from here anyone else feeling this?

One of my colleagues evidently got ahold of a photo of current and former students and me at the Midwest Econometrics Group Meeting at U of Cincinnati. This was on my office door. The same colleague who microwaves fish? (No, I wasn’t actually wearing a crown.)

This has been in the making for a while, and I think it is time to give a preview. csdid in Stata is now fully updated! This version is faster, better documented, and fully aligned with our R and Python packages! psantanna.com/csdid/ We'll keep further improving.

Oh, and we are breaking many defaults in this version!! So you will want to check the documentation! We also deprecated some options!

These updates were only possible thanks to many people! Fernando Rios-Avila, @MinhaHwang, and Juwon Hong were fundamental to this.

I hope this is useful. We are committed to improving the package. We also want to keep clarifying the importance of heterogeneity and of understanding what your estimator actually estimates under clearly stated conditions. We need to keep talking about estimands!

Over the next 28 days, each day we’ll either ship one thing that is a clear improvement and relevant for most codex/work users or ship a full reset. Let the improvements begin.
All right, we’re locking in. Only things being worked on are simplifications, more efficiency for more usage, groundbreaking features or new models. Sometimes you have to invest ahead of the curve, but feedback is clear that you all want things to get simpler. On it.
