🏇 KA YING RISING is every bit as good as Black Caviar in terms of the performances he’s putting on the track. His return at Sha Tin on Sunday earned an incredible 119 WFA Performance Rating ⏱️⚖️📊, lifting his peak for the third consecutive start after ratings of 113.5 and 114. We’re witnessing one of the all-time great racehorses. ⏱️ The clock leaves no doubt that this was clearly his best performance. Five 1200m races on the day provided a strong basis for comparison. Measuring those times and sectionals against the established ability of the horses involved makes the merit of Ka Ying Rising’s performance clear. I’ve previously assessed Black Caviar’s best at 118, although a slightly different rating methodology back then. However, there’s no point splitting hairs over numbers and arguing that one is definitively ahead of the other. What we can say, with confidence, is that on the performances he’s producing, it’s more than reasonable to place Ka Ying Rising right alongside her. 📈 The graph below shows the trajectory of his ratings. Even at six, he continues to elevate, progressing from elite to world-class and then beyond, into all-time great territory. Black Caviar was widely described as a once-in-a-lifetime horse. It’s remarkable that another of her calibre has come along so soon.
