🚨Gosport locked down so a migrant boat can land
Police have put the entire town under a Section 34 dispersal order until Tuesday morning. Residents can be ordered to leave and not return. Any protest is penned into a car park under Section 14. Face coverings are banned.
This is not aimed at the dinghy. It is aimed at the people who live there.
Last month hundreds turned out in the same town over a reported landing.
Arrests followed. The boat was diverted to Dover. Crossings this year are still in the tens of thousands. The establishment’s answer is to restrict the locals, not the route.
Public order law is being used to manage a policy the public never voted for.

The best thing about being English is that it makes me British. And Britain is a multinational, multiethnic nation with a strong tradition of democracy and political liberty. Britain is still a democratic nation (if only just). Britain is a nation worth fighting for.

Braverman claims that we can unite under a shared British identity.
Her hierarchy: “British” is offered as an inclusive civic identity, while “English” is reserved for people with the approved ancestry.
Why should someone born and raised in England be told that they may be British but can never truly be English?
Braverman is prepared to exclude herself from Englishness to legitimise the exclusion of millions of others.
This is racial nationalism, not patriotism.
