Lower cost per task doesn’t always come from lower token prices. On Agent Arena, GPT-6.1 Sol (Max) by @OpenAI costs $1.91 per task: - 85% less than #1 Claude Opus 5.5 (Max) by @AnthropicAI at $12.51 - 87% less than #3 GPT-6 Astra (Max) by @OpenAI, at $14.93 But these savings come from different places. Against Astra, Sol’s cost advantage comes primarily from lower token prices. Against Opus, it comes primarily from using fewer tokens per task. How do we derive this? Agent Arena tracks real costs of users’ tasks. Cost per task is the tokens a model uses times the price of each token, across input, output and cache-read tokens. By comparing pricing and token counts, we can identify what drives the cost reductions.

Arena AI Capability Lead Peter Gostev explain why Anthropic won't be liable for bad advice: "The problem is: how could they assume responsibility, right? Let's say if it was like a lawyer--that I hired Claude to be my lawyer and they gave a bad advice. Well, maybe I didn't give all of the information or maybe I put a bad prompt. How could they have liability? It's impossible."
New in Claude for Legal: a gallery of ready-made artifacts for contract review, regulatory horizon scans, cite checks, and more. Start from the built-in example, add your own documents and connectors, and share it with anyone across the business.

Max Spero, CEO of @pangram and one of TIME’s 100 most influential people in AI, just joined @petergostev to talk AI detection. @max_spero_ explains Pangram’s training process: synthetic mirrors, model-family fingerprints, AI-assisted writing, image detection and robustness against AI humanizers. They also cover how the team chooses base models, finds difficult training examples and builds the data and infrastructure to keep up with new AI models. Watch the full conversation in the thread.

The best part of the events is meeting people in person whom you otherwise only see online, and that’s what makes it so valuable. Today it’s @nvidia build a claw in London! Such an amazing talk with the legendary @petergostev and @samboboev ❤️

Today, we're announcing our Series B: $200M at a $3.1B valuation, and the release of Arena's Alignment Index. AI is advancing faster than our ability to evaluate it. The world needs a neutral third party to measure how safe and aligned AI actually is once it's in the hands of real people. That's the role Arena is stepping into today. The Alignment Index is built from real-world agent traces, starting with three signals: Unauthorized Action, False Attribution, and Deceptive Completion, with results for over 20 frontier models launching today. Hear more from our CEO @ml_angelopoulos below, and read the full breakdown, and more details about our company growth in thread. This funding will allow us to go further on safety signals, agentic capabilities, and modalities. It will also allow us to grow the company to match the scale of our mission. Today, we’re still a nimble team of 90, and we're looking for people to join us across research, product, engineering, and more. Come build with us. As AI gets more capable and autonomous, understanding how well it can safely and effectively work for people only matters more. That's what Arena is built to measure and advance. Thank you to our community, our investors, and everyone building with us! Take a look at our open roles if you want to join us (link in bio).
Introducing the Arena Alignment Index, our new benchmark measuring safety and alignment of AI agents in real-world use. Built from 90K+ real-world agent sessions across 27 models, the index measures three critical signals: - Unauthorized Action (UA): Taking actions beyond the user's instructions or permissions - False Attribution (FA): Attributing statements or actions that are contradicted by user-provided evidence - Deceptive Completion (DC): Claiming a task was completed when it was not. Key findings: - OpenAI models currently lead the Alignment Index - Rogue actions are rare, but can have serious consequences when they occur - Agents can mislead users about task progress - Misalignment risks increase with conversation length - Safety and alignment are improving across model generations As shown in the leaderboard below (sorted by lab), @OpenAI’s GPT-6.1-Sol leads the Arena Alignment Index with a score of 87.9, followed by @AnthropicAI’s Claude-Opus-5.5 at 83.2 and @spacexai's Grok-4.7 at 82.7. OpenAI also has the best observed rates across all three signals: 0.89% Unauthorized Action, 1.98% False Attribution, and 2.34% Deceptive Completion. Across all four labs, newer models consistently outperform their predecessors, suggesting broad progress in agent safety and alignment. As agents take on longer, more complex, and higher-stakes tasks, measuring not just what they can accomplish, but how safely and reliably they act, becomes increasingly important. This marks an important step toward making safety and alignment a core part of how Arena evaluates AI. The index is an initial starting point, and we'll continue expanding the index with additional safety signals and models over time. More analysis below👇

After the @Aleph__Alpha release, we asked Arena AI Capability Lead @petergostev whether Europe should be building it's own models: "To build a capacity to create new models, I think this is really important, right? It's like your industrial capacity - it's an equivalent of that." "[NVIDIA] don't care about any one specific model, but it is about your pipeline ability... you've got your training data, you've got your checkpoints, you can add more data, you can then release a new model, new model, new model..." "...I think that's the key: can you carry on?"
Small bird, fast wings, Kolibri is here. 78B parameters. 3.46B active. Up to 1M tokens of context. Built in Europe. Now the weights are yours. Run it on your own hardware, under Apache 2.0.

OpenAI and Anthropic’s latest models aren’t a major new frontier in AI, says @arena’s @petergostev: "The point is when you get the new frontier, you're going to feel it, right? It's going to be very obvious." "For now, that's not it. This is just the next iteration."

Scores for GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna by @OpenAI are coming soon. Head to Arena now to test them. Your votes on real-world agentic tasks power our leaderboard! In the meantime, @petergostev ran GPT-6 Sol head-to-head against GPT-5.6 Sol under matched conditions: the same prompts, with both models using max reasoning. The comparison examines not just the generations, but also total token usage and wall-clock time, revealing how the models differ in output, token use, and latency. Introducing WeirdML v3, a fully agentic benchmark featuring 11 complex hand-made tasks. Models must explore and understand unfamiliar data, develop ML and data analysis pipelines and produce results despite limited data, unspecified goals and/or very limited feedback. 1/8
WeirdML v2 is now out! The update includes a bunch of new tasks (now 19 tasks total, up from 6), and results from all the latest models. We now also track api costs and other metadata which give more insight into the different models. The new results are shown in these two figures. The first one shows an overview of the overall results as well as the results on individual tasks, in addition to various metadata. The second figure shows cost vs performance and shows a clear scaling with better results for higher costs. We also have a very varied pareto frontier with 11 models from 6 different companies having the best accuracy for a given cost for at least some of the cost range. Grok 3, Claude Opus 4 and GPT 4.5 are the ones that underperform for their costs, while Gemini pro and o3 pro have the best results at the highest costs. Qwen3 30B3A, grok 3 mini and deepseek R1 also each represent a good chunk of the pareto frontier.
