Some days you wake up thinking you're crazy…
Then some days one of the world's best investors validates basically every view you hold on vertical AI.
The latter is nicer lol.
Some points from @rabois that I 100000% agree with:
👍 Vertical AI needs to actually complete work for humans, not just augment it
👍 Building a durable business/revenue is more important than short-term growth
👍 Dont fight the frontier - your product needs to get better as the frontier improves
👍 Industry context + data creates a defensible harness
👍 Vertical AI should let businesses grow without taking on more headcount
👍 The best industry leaders will think from first principles how to re-design their workflows from the ground up
Thanks @picnoulos and @lukesophinos for hosting such a great pod and for making me feel less crazy today.
What if construction could happen... over text message?
Today we're making that a reality.
Introducing Supa - the multiplayer AI assistant for construction.
We all know that most of construction is already happening on phone calls, texts and whatsapp groups.
But things get lost. It's messy. And it still requires you to do all the work.
What if there was an AI assistant that did it all for you?
One that knew construction, you and your team?
Supa is the AI assistant that takes your admin off your plate so you can get back to building.
What can it do? Basically anything... a few examples:
- Order materials
- Shift schedules
- Draft RFIs from whatsapp conversations
- Talk to other team members Supa's
- Complete tasks from phone calls
- Generate change orders from a client email
- Approve invoices
- Send emails on your behalf
- Move calendar events
- Manage whatsapp groups
- Book a table at the pub for knockoffs 🍻
We are in the age of super intelligence. It's about time that builders got access to super intelligence that understands construction.
And integrates with the tools you're already using (Outlook, Gmail, BuildPass etc).
We've got a tight group of beta testers already using Supa - here's some of the feedback:
"Supa is f*cking wild"
"Seriously how does it do this?"
"It literally saved me on something within 24 hours of connecting my email"
"I barely need to log in to BuildPass anymore"
"You guys have built something special here"
Our vision is for builders to take on more jobs, with less admin and more profit.
Supa is another step towards that vision.

Had an epic session with Keith Rabois on the pod this week. Lots to take away from this one.

Replying to @OpenAI
@OpenAI adding an @Atlassian app into the quick add menu with no way to remove it unlike other plugins?
Anyone else seeing an @Atlassian option the the ChatGPT sidebar? I don’t have that connector or plugin installed. This appears to be @openai’s new advertising spam “preloading” strategy.

I trained a 36k-parameter model to centre a div. Stop asking trillion-parameter models.
neural-flexbox: "flexbox, approximately"
Inspired by the very useful gpu-lexer by @shuding . This is much less useful. I wanted to learn how to train a model from scratch.

I trained a small model to do syntax highlighting in the browser with GPU.
Meet gpu-lexer from Vercel Labs: Small (27.5KB), fast (runs on WebGPU), and language-agnostic (model guesses the syntax).
gpu-lexer.vercel.app
It is experimental and built for learning!

Going fully AFK is the wrong goal for AI software factories. It's missing the point, and a lot of the value in what can actually be built with AI.
Optimising for leverage and amplifying a product team's impact should be the main focus.

Built a tiny Chrome plugin for reviewing AI-generated PRs.
I’m increasingly getting AI agents to attach screenshots, GIFs, and visual evidence to pull requests, but its hard to view them in GitHub quickly, cant zoom in and opens that media in new tabs.

In March, we shared The BuildPass Method with our whole team.
It is our internal page for how we build, who we hire, and what we expect.
Really, it is about a bigger question: what does it mean to build a company in the age of AI?

2026 is the year where you choose what side of history you will be on.
As a company, as an individual, it doesn't matter.
AI is an axe that wedges good and bad further apart, 1000x.

Most people dunking on Michael Dell’s wife have no idea who the man actually is.
This dude became a billionaire at 26.
Took his company private.
Bought it back.
Then built one of the greatest comeback stories in tech.
And he did it with the same woman by his side since 1989! 36 years!!
He was shy
She was a baddie
She pulled him out of his shell
They built an empire together
That’s the part Clown Twitter misses.
Anyone can upgrade a car.
It takes a different kind of man to stay loyal when you don’t have to.
And it takes a different kind of partnership to survive:
• Going public at 23
• Losing $100B in market cap
• Getting written off by every analyst
• Building it all back to $120B+
Meanwhile they're raising four kids and just donated $6.25B to children's causes.
But Twitter's roasting her appearance at 60....
Imagine building a company from your dorm room…
Hitting a billion before your brain is fully formed…
Keeping the same partner for four decades…
Raising a family…
Becoming world-class philanthropists…
And still getting roasted by dudes who haven't kissed a girl since middle school
If you’re a founder:
Let this be a reminder of what actually ages well.
Skill.
Character.
Loyalty.
Impact.

Manus just rolled out their 'Manus Browser Operator' extension.
During the episode recording this morning, Matt and Scotty connected Manus AI's strategy to Chinese restaurant BYO policies.
And honestly, it makes perfect sense.
Why compete in the browser market when you can just sit on top of the one people already use?
Bring your own browser, bring your own passwords, bring your own habits.
Manus operates them for you.
It's the same play Chinese restaurants figured out decades ago:
don't compete in alcohol, just charge a small corkage fee and focus on the food.
Small corkage fee = small Manus subscription.
Sometimes the best business strategy is knowing what not to build.
Share your thoughts below.
Full episode drops this Friday!

Moved to Austin from Australia 3 months ago - thanks for making it so great @MichaelDell
We’re regulars at the Dell JCC, my son loves Thinkery and we even (unfortunately) had a trip to the Dell Children’s Hospital but the experience was excellent. Thank you!

today we launched something to fix context rot.
as coding agents take on bigger tasks, the real challenge isn’t token limits, it’s that context gets noisy and outdated fast, leading to wasted time and inaccurate edits.
Nuanced MCP gives agents the most relevant context as your code evolves: no brittle docs, artifacts or overly-manual context engineering required when you have up-to-date code intelligence delivered right to your agent.
We do this by giving agents two types of data:
- call graphs that supply architectural reasoning across the whole project.
- LSP symbol data that fills in precision when the agent drills into a function.
That means you get architecture when searching or figuring out how a change ripples across your codebase, and detail when editing.
