DAY 652 THE CM IS PITCHING HYDERABAD AS THE PERFECT PLACE TO BUILD MORE CARS. NOBODY IS PITCHING HYDERABAD A WAY TO MOVE PEOPLE WITHOUT THEM. On October 16, CM Revanth Reddy met Hyundai representatives and personally pitched Hyderabad as the ideal location for their next car manufacturing facility. If it lands, that's real investment, real jobs, real economic weight for this state — and we'd welcome it. But sit with the irony for a second. The same city already adding 1,500 vehicles to its roads every single day, already ranked among the world's most congested cities, is now being positioned to manufacture even MORE of the vehicles clogging its own streets — while the one project that would take pressure off those streets, Metro Phase-II, remains stuck in Delhi after 652 days. We are not against Hyundai. We are not against manufacturing, jobs, or investment. Hyderabad should chase every one of them. But a city courting a car factory needs a Metro even more urgently than a city that isn't — because every new vehicle rolling off that line, sold anywhere in India, adds to the exact same category of problem Hyderabad already can't manage on its own roads. Growth without mass transit doesn't offset congestion. It compounds it. This state knows how to pitch big industrial wins to global companies in a single meeting. It needs to bring that same energy to pitching its OWN Metro file to its OWN central government.
