Budget promises another £200m for Leeds station to deliver by 2030 “construction of a new central overbridge, 3 new entrances, more space on the concourses and a longer platform 14”.
DfT has launched a review of rail infrastructure costs under the chairmanship of Rachel Skinner (a past president of the civil engineers’ institution). Review will “identify the key drivers of cost in the sector and recommend tangible solutions for government and industry”.

This collision in Spain is awful. Devastation appears immense, suggesting collision was at high-speed. I can’t imagine anything other than casualty figures rising.

With a storm rolling in and talk of trampolines and railways, I have just crossed Stilton Fen on a southbound @lner Azuma. Bouncy doesn’t begin to describe the ride. As someone never said in the films “I love the sound of bumpstops in the morning”.

Detailed work for new Bradford Interchange 'starts immediately' as local politicians renew calls for through station

Yesterday’s Bradford news counts as half an announcement. Interchange confirmed new station site. Next decision is whether it’s another terminus or a through station. Through is likely more expensive. Can local mayor afford both station and tram project?
