Explaining the word "pylocatabasist" in my bio.
Comes from a rather fun excerpt from Umberto Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum."
Saving things by a hair is the leitmotif of my career, basically.
And I'd have to agree: It's *not* a "completely useless" skill. 💪🤓🤘

By this time next year, it will be almost impossible to safely use the internet.
- Instant messaging will be rife with fake or hacked accounts.
- Social media will be 99% AI-generated content, perfectly designed to maximise your addictive response.
You'll be forced to employ an AI "food taster" - much like spam filters do for your email - to to ensure you are safe while you browse.
Alternatively, you could unplug from the internet, connect with your community, and touch grass.
My guess is people are going to be doing much more on both.

I have not found any previous Bitcoin bear markets difficult. Really, not even a bit, because I genuinely don’t care about the price.
But this one is different. This one hurts, and it’s because I’m watching people that aren’t doing stupid shit get hurt.
With Mt Gox we all knew that was a very dangerous single point of failure. With FTX, etc., there were clearly shenanigans. Bankamn-Fried was obviously up to no good. But with all the dramas now, Coldcard, Liquid, BTCPay Server… well some of the people behind those projects might be assholes, but they aren’t scammers! People who were doing things right are getting hit by this. And so this one hurts.
Two pumpkins worth, with paprika, garlic, and onion. Is it me or are seed-yields-per-pumpkin lower this year?
Reminded of this every election season...

Really enjoyed Bitcoin Bad Boy, a new play by @btschiller, and sequel to his excellent Happenstance. Thoughtful commentary on contemporary crypto scene.

No lie... Last time I worked in a cube farm, I wired my cube up with a Kenwood 5.1 surround sound system and, if bored on a Friday, would start blasting this at 5:00 p.m.

Why @fedibtc looks at money and community as two sides of the same coin, so to speak. From @jeffbooth...
"A community that can talk freely but can't pay each other privately is still captured. A community with private money that coordinates on watched channels has handed over the map anyway." - @JeffBooth

When did the writers for “The Diplomat” decide to turn the show into “The Honeymooners” with security clearance?
Getting nasty in publishing when you see @washingtonpost take out ads like this on @Reddit poking at @WSJ.
