In the #SystBioSeminar of next week we will learn about #circularDNA molecules in the #plantPathogen #fungus (#Magnaporthe oryzae). Our guest is @pmjoubert from @kseniakrasileva Lab @UCBerkeley. Time: Wednesday 17th of November at 4 pm PM for zoom link
Very excited to share this work! I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback before submission
In our latest pre-print, @pmjoubert describes extra chromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) from a filamentous fungus, plant pathogen extraordinaire - Magnaporthe oryzae. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… What are eccDNAs? [1/9]

New preprint from the lab! @KyungyongS used the latest machine learning algorithms to model 1,854 secreted proteins from the fungal pathogen M. oryzae. Here is what we learned from this computational structural genomics project (1/n): biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

I wrote a pipeline that takes short read sequencing data from isolated circular DNA and outputs high confidence eccDNA forming regions. The code is stable but still needs some polishing. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions! github.com/pierrj/ecc_caller
Thank you for all the support and 🍾 @kseniakrasileva
Congratulations to @SentientFish for passing his quals last week. Well done, I look forward to more 🍾 to come.

The @DotyLab surveys poplar and willow trees that live in nutrient poor areas. While trees are pretty different than corn, the microbes associated with these trees can help them thrive and grow in that environment - this benefit can transfer to crops too. #PlantMicroSymbio
