Poor little. @SachinPilot wanted to influence #dusu2026 elections और उधर से राजस्थान में पैरों तले ज़मीन खिसक गई। Mayor elections in Rajasthan, BJP 9, Congress 1.
मस्त है..
और इनको अगला मुख्य मंत्री बनने का शौक है..

The Greeks did trigonometry with full chords. If you have a circle, draw a line from one side to the other - that is a chord. Hipparchus and Ptolemy made tables of chords.
Indian mathematicians made a simpler move. They took half a chord.
If you draw a chord, then draw a radius to its middle, you get a right triangle. The half-chord is the key side. Aryabhata around 499 CE in Kusumapura called it ardha-jyā i.e. half-bowstring. Then just jyā for short.
Why jyā?
Because a chord looks exactly like a bow. The arc of the circle is the wooden bow, the straight chord is the string pulled taut. The Sanskrit word for bowstring is jyā. It is a perfect visual metaphor.
Aryabhata needed sines to do astronomy. He made the first sine table EVER: 24 values from 0 to 90 degrees in steps of 3.75 degrees. You can still read them in the Aryabhatiya.
He called them jyā.
That work traveled west. In the 8th century, Indian astronomical texts were brought to Baghdad - the Brahmasphuta Siddhanta of Brahmagupta, the Aryabhatiya. Arab mathematicians translated jyā phonetically. In Arabic they wrote it as jība ~ جيب ~ borrowing the Sanskrit sound.
Arabic is usually written without vowels. So jība was written as jb ~ جيب.
Then a later copyist, not knowing the Sanskrit origin, read jb as jaib — a common Arabic word that means fold, pocket, bay, bosom, the fold of a garment.
So when the great translators of Toledo in the 12th century (Gerard of Cremona and his circle) came to translate Arabic mathematics into Latin, they saw jaib. A fold. A bay.
What is the Latin for a fold, a bay, a curve of cloth?
Sinus.
The fold of a toga, the bay of a coast.
They wrote sinus.
And from Latin sinus came English sine.
So every child who learns sine, cosine - which was originally co-sinus, the sine of the complement ~ and tangent is actually saying:
Sine = sinus = jaib = jība = jyā = bowstring.

Indian mathematical texts usually stated results in compressed verse and left the reasoning to a teacher. Jyeṣṭhadeva, a later mathematician of the Kerala School broke that habit.
After Madhava of Sangamagrama (c. 1340 – 1425 CE) first invented Calculus, Jyeṣṭhadeva (a later mathematician of the Kerala School) wrote the world’s first explicit textbook on calculus in c. 1530 CE. It was written in Malayalam for greater consumption.
The Yuktibhāṣā was revolutionary because it didn't just state the mathematical rules; it provided the complete rationale, proofs, and derivations (known as yukti) for those discoveries. The book contains detailed, geometric proofs for integration, differentiation, and infinite power series.
While the West spent centuries fighting over whether England (Isaac Newton published his work in c.1704 CE) or Germany (Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz published his work in c.1684 CE) invented calculus, modern research from institutions like the University of Manchester has shown that the fundamental operational components of calculus, such as infinite series, limits, and mathematical proofs of these expansions, were already fully operational in southwest India.
Western scholars expanded the Calculus invented by Indians to Force Mechanics.
Europeans often claim that they had “no knowledge” of Indian mathematics, historical evidence shows that Jesuit missionaries were highly active in the Kerala region during the 16th centuries.
These missionaries were actively translating and sending mathematical and astronomical texts back to Europe, leading many modern historians to suggest that the "sudden" leap in European mathematics may have been directly or indirectly sparked by imported Indian knowledge.
Following Vasco da Gama’s arrival in Kerala in 1499, a direct maritime route opened between Europe and south-west India. By the mid-16th century, Jesuit missionaries had established a heavy presence in the region.
Historians like Dr. George Gheverghese Joseph of the University of Manchester have compiled extensive circumstantial evidence tracking how these missionaries interacted with Indian knowledge.
The Vatican was deeply invested in exploration, which required accurate navigation, map-making, and calendar correction. Pope Gregory XIII set up a committee to reform the Julian calendar in the late 1500s. Jesuits in India were explicitly instructed to learn local languages and gather mathematical and astronomical data to solve these problems.
Jesuits like Johann Ernst Hanxleden (known as Arnos Paatiri) and others became highly fluent in Sanskrit and Malayalam (the languages of the Kerala texts). They translated local works and maintained direct communication networks back to European scientific hubs.

Please remember Dominion & Independence are NOT SAME ! :
1Today we are independent but remember on 15 Aug 47 we became a Dominion with Mountbatten as 1st Gov. Gen. of the Dominion with slogans of Mountbatten ki jai !
Remember Gandhi had opposed Complete Independence amendment at Calcutta session of Congress in 1929 and got his way for Dominion status !
2 Mountbatten took oath in name of King as representative of the Crown !
3 All talk of swadeshi was put in grave by inviting him as GG. Jinah didn't do that !
4 Govt. of India Gazette of 14th Aug 1947 describes India as a Dominion. Issued under Nehru- the PM of Interim Govt.
5 Union Jack didn't go down at Viceregal Residence !
6 Though Pakistan was created Congress let 28 Muslim League Members continue on our Constitute Assembly and they left for Pakistan only in 1950 after signing our Constitution.
7 Commander in Chief was British, Air Force and Naval chiefs too.
8 In 1948, to appoint Rajagopalachari asnext Gov. Gen, Nehru as ministers of the Dominion sought permission from King !
9 The King abdicated the throne of British Indian Empire only on 22 June 1948 as per London Gazette !
10. Most nations celebrate their Independence day on the date they had declared themselves independent. For example America to be one !
Consider the following :
A Our Freedom Struggle started o 10 May 1857 so why not this date?
B Complete Independence was declared in Lahore session of Congress in Dec. 1929 on 31 Dec on banks of Ravi river and 26 January 1930 was the day all over India it was declared .
C Azad Hind Sarkar was established on 21 Oct. 1943 by Netaji Subhas Bose in Singapore and it had all components of a nation's government besides liberating many areas from British.
on 30 Dec Netaji hoisted the Indian flag in Andamans . The Indian flag went up at Mowdok on 18 March 1944 after throwing out British.
D Indian flag hoisted at Moirang on 14 April 1944.
E When so many dates are there to choose one why do we keep celebration the Dominion Day as Independence Day ? Remember there was nothing special about it in history of events in India's Freedom Struggle ! Mount batten had purposely decided 15 Aug as that day he had taken the surrender of Japan but the Azad Hind Sarkar was the only one that did not surrender to British.!
By statements only we can't decolonise the Indian mind, get rid of Brown Sahibs and put an end to Macaulay's system !
If @INCIndia or any hisrorian proves me wrong and I will stop writing on history !
Jai Hind !
@PMOIndia @BJP4India @rajnathsingh @AmitShah @RSSorg please consider !
Amazing. But will @Vedmalik1 care to respond as to how many Generals were sacked for their failure to do their assigned job?
