Poland’s highest overpass is halfway completed, with construction progressing on a major section of the S19 expressway in the country’s southeastern Subcarpathia region. The structure stretches 1,082 meters between Babica and Jawornik, rising up to 80 meters above the surrounding terrain. Its concrete supports alone require 51,800 cubic meters of concrete, equivalent to more than 20 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Once completed, the S19 expressway will connect areas near Białystok, close to the Belarusian border, with Slovakia’s border, improving transport links across southeastern Poland.

🇵🇱🇨🇦 W 1858 roku pierwsi polscy osadnicy z Kaszub przybyli w okolice dzisiejszego Wilna w Ontario. Do dziś region ten pozostaje ważnym ośrodkiem polskiego i kaszubskiego dziedzictwa w Kanadzie, miejscem spotkań, działalności kulturalnej i pielęgnowania tradycji. 🤝 Obecność Delegacji Komisji Łączności z Polakami za Granicą Sejmu RP na ontaryjskich Kaszubach podkreśla znaczenie tego regionu dla polskości w Kanadzie i więzi z Ojczyzną. W trakcie wczorajszej wizyty posłowie Dorota Łoboda, Alicja Łepkowska-Gołaś i Jarosław Krajewski złożyli wieniec pod pomnikiem Szarych Szeregów, oddając hołd polskim harcerzom i harcerkom poległym w obronie ojczyzny podczas II wojny światowej. Przedstawiciele ZHP w Kanadzie, dh hm Marcin i Urszula Gorzkowscy, oprowadzili delegację po stanicy harcerskiej, gdzie setki polonijnych zuchów i harcerzy każdego roku łączą naukę, pracę i wypoczynek. Anna Psuty, prezes Instytutu Dziedzictwa i Kultury - Kaszuby Kanada, przybliżyła delegacji historię Kaplicy pod Sosnami oraz kościoła św. Marii w pobliskim Wilnie, najstarszej polskiej i kaszubskiej świątyni w Kanadzie.

A 1938 World Championship silver medalist, he served as a courier for the Polish underground during WW2. #OnThisDay in 1915 #WW2 fighter ace Stanisław Karubin was born in Warsaw, #Poland🇵🇱 He fought in Poland, France, and the decisive Battle of Britain, where he scored 6 confirmed kills against the Luftwaffe. However, he was himself shot down and wounded by defensive fire from bombers. After 3 weeks of recovery in hospital, he became a flight instructor. The 9 F-35 "Pantera" has landed at home in Poland. Surprisingly, the number of pilots including additional pilots will not be an issue as the fleet of 35 aircraft grows; much like with the F-16s, there are successors in training, and their numbers can be increased further ^^ #PAF

Drawing Hell on Earth “Myszka” (“Little Mouse”) was the affectionate nickname given to Maria Hiszpańska-Neumann, a graphic artist and illustrator, by those closest to her. Through her art, she documented her experiences in Nazi German concentration camps. As she once said: “I had to make those drawings, otherwise I would have suffocated (…).” She was born #OTD in 1917 in Warsaw. She attended the J. Popielewska and J. Roszkowska Private Girls’ Secondary School before enrolling at the Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied under Professors Stanisław Ostoja-Chrostowski, Karol Tichy and Wacław Waśkowski. Unfortunately, the outbreak of World War 2 prevented her from completing her degree. During the German occupation, she was a member of the Union of Armed Struggle (ZWZ), distributing clandestine publications. For her involvement in the resistance movement, she was arrested on 19 June 1941 and imprisoned first in Radom and then in Pińczów. On 10 April 1942, she was deported to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, where she was assigned prisoner number 10219. She was later transferred to Neubrandenburg. Maria Hiszpańska secretly drew scenes depicting everyday life in the concentration camp, hiding her work from the female guards. She regarded drawing as her duty, a kind of mission that compelled her, as an artist, to bear witness to the horrors of camp life. She used whatever materials she could find, including wrapping paper and the margins of newspapers smuggled in by fellow prisoners. At Ravensbrück, she produced approximately 250 drawings.
