AI Sovereign Wealth Fund with an AI dividend is absolutely the way forward.
.@schisofrenia argues the real UBI question is how AI wealth gets redistributed. @AndrewYang says he’s already seen one version of it firsthand after getting paid $2,500 for AI to use his work:
Sofia: "You were the person who first introduced me to the concept of UBI in the first place"
"We have a sovereign wealth fund, akin to what Norway has. Alaska has more of a petroleum dividend."
"A universal basic dividend would distribute wealth to Americans based on a weighted index of the top AI companies. How you define what the top AI companies are, that's really the core topic of contention."
"You could do things like wage insurance. If somebody made 80k a year and their job was displaced by AI and they have to get a job that's 50k a year, the government could compensate those people for the amount that they lost."
Andrew Yang: "I am probably the only person in this circle who actually did get paid for their data. AI wants to eat your book and it will pay you $2,500 for the privilege. Imagine if every American got a message like that."

Elon is a polarizing figure, but his products consistently slap.
Trying a Tesla versus other cars - the competition isn’t even close (unless you count Chinese EVs) and even then…
FSD is a total Elon victory. Tips me a little more toward great man theory of history.
Who else is giving us robotics, advanced AI and space capabilities right now?
That feeling when you get off the @typesafeai waitlist and are ready to use absurdly abundant intelligence.

my general view is AI safety is important. and high salience policies get slopulized in the US. and our best hope is to let public/private technocrats and wonks manage it, just like you and i know nothing about small pox storage.
Astra makes side questing on creating fun webgl arcade games absurdly easy. We do live in the future.
Had my son create a Minecraft clone with world war 1 trench warfare.
Already up to double digit PRs.
serious question, at this point why not simply cancel the ipo’s & nationalize the labs?
theoretically nationalization would solve some of the incentive problems immediately. the us treasury becomes the only shareholder. the govt can coordinate compute, model releases, security standards, & pacing without asking rival firms to collude.
you could theoretically put openai, anthropic, & eventually other designated frontier labs under something analogous to a federally owned strategic technology corporation, with the president appointing the board rather than literally having sam & dario file weekly tps reports to the oval office.
If you wrote that a secretive sex/doomsday cult in the Bay Area psyop’ed our own politicians into calling for a shutdown of the most promising technology in the history of America 🇺🇸 nobody would believe you.
Yet, here we are.
They also want to ban YOU from accessing it.
The problem with the big lab position on pacing is that if they choose to create a singleton of power - they will be defacto nationalized.
The diverging futures we face are decentralization + diffusion, with some pain, or national autocratic disaster.
Think about the slippery slope.
If they restrict your use of general computing, it will be a back door regulation of the 1st amendment.
The EAs in Berkeley would rather shred the U.S constitution in order to live their utopian vision of AI. They want to be the overclass, and we their subjects.
Some people want to kill AI because abundance and technological advancements are their enemies.
There must be new labs and more open labs that center pragmatism over ideological extremism.
The idea of a technological singularity that people can use for authoritarian control is too great.
The only thing that protect us from AI is decentralization, transparency and accessibility.
How can the public know that an algo is safe in terms of intelligence if it isn’t inspectable by the public?
i don't see any solution to the ai risk problem than mass accessibility to ai
if they're going to be around potentially causing damage then everyone needs to have ai defending them
this is how cyber security works, we rely on the fact that there's more good guys than bad

It's now clear that alignment is critical and won't be solved behind the closed doors of a handful of frontier labs.
So today we're launching the Open Alignment Initiative, led by @Thom_Wolf @huggingface and asking to be part of the "embedded evaluators" program that @DarioAmodei just committed to.
Let's make AI safer by making it more transparent!
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.
