Ingrid's fundraiserOne month after losing her nan to a brain tumour, Ingrid's mum was diagnosed with one too. "Everything happened so fast, and I thought Mum would die too," she says. The 25-year-old's mum, Mia, was diagnosed in 2021 while she was grieving the loss of her own mother, Bardhe, who died aged 66. Her tumour is non-cancerous and is stable following surgery, but her family knows these can still have a "huge and negative impact" on patients. Earlier this month, five years on, Ingrid took on the Oysho Royal Parks Half Marathon, raising vital funds in honour of her mum and in memory of her nan. "I want to raise as much as I can help anyone else who is going through this disease so other families don’t lose a loved one like we did," she adds πŸ’› Donate to Ingrid's fundraiser and support vital research: bit.ly/4ePwFV8 #BrainTumourResearch #TogetherWeWillFindACure

Six half-marathons in six months, all for a very special reason! πŸ’› A massive well done to Dan, from Cumbria, who has completed his incredible challenge in honour of his best friend, Ally, who is currently living with a brain tumour. Dan has raised an amazing Β£3,600 for Brain Tumour Research, and to top it all off, he finished his sixth and final half-marathon with a personal best! Thank you, Dan, for turning your miles into vital funds for research. Every pound raised helps us get one step closer to finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Inspired by Dan? Celebrating 20 years of hope, progress and impact. πŸ’› Our CEO, Dan Knowles, was delighted to attend a gala dinner at Burghley House marking the 20th anniversary of our Member Charity, @AnnasHopeUK Founded by Rob Hughes and his wife, Carole, following the devastating loss of their daughter, Anna, to an ependymoma brain tumour at just three years and eight months old, Anna’s Hope was born from a promise. Before Anna passed away, Rob and Carole vowed to do everything they could to improve outcomes for children diagnosed with brain tumours and support their rehabilitation. In their grief, they found purpose, and over the past two decades, they have turned that purpose into lasting impact. Since its inception, Anna’s Hope has raised an incredible Β£2.24 million, helping to drive progress for children and young people affected by brain tumours. The charity was a founding partner of Brainbow at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, a pioneering specialist neuro-rehabilitation service that has since been adopted by the NHS. Rob and Carole’s vision is to see this model rolled out across the UK, ensuring more families can access the support they need. Continuing Anna’s extraordinary legacy, Anna’s Hope recently announced funding for a three-year research project at the University of Nottingham, led by Dr Tim Ritzmann and focused on ependymoma. As Chair of Brain Tumour Research, and previously as a trustee, Rob has also been a steadfast supporter of our campaigning work, joining us at Westminster to call for greater investment in brain tumour research. We continue to campaign for national investment to reach at least Β£45 million a year, helping to address the historic underfunding of this devastating disease. One of the most moving moments of the anniversary dinner came during Rob’s speech, when he shared words from the tribute he gave at Anna’s funeral. He spoke lovingly of her passion for music, dancing in her sister’s bedroom, cooking pancakes and Krispie cakes, and caring for her many dolls. Her favourite programme was Peppa Pig, and she was remembered as a little girl full of warmth, character and joy. We are incredibly grateful to Rob, Carole and everyone at Anna’s Hope for their unwavering support, partnership and determination to change the story for children diagnosed with brain tumours. Here’s to 20 years of making a difference, honouring Anna’s legacy and changing lives in the years ahead. πŸ’› #BrainTumourResearch #ChildhoodBrainTumours #TogetherWeWillFindACure #AnnasHope

β€œI’m going to fight in Max’s name.” πŸ’› Jackie Hall travelled to Westminster this week to share her son Max’s story and call for change, after losing him to a brain tumour aged just 14 in August. Football-mad Max was diagnosed with a grade 4 diffuse glioma just days after his 14th birthday. When his treatment options ran out, his family fundraised to take him to Germany for experimental immunotherapy. Now, Jackie is determined to turn her heartbreak into action. Meeting with Health Innovation Minister @JamesFrith MP, alongside her MP @LeeBarronMP and representatives from Brain Tumour Research, Jackie called for greater investment in research and wider access to clinical trials for children facing brain tumours. To honour Max’s legacy, Jackie has also established United for Max a fundraising group supporting our Centre of Excellence at the University of Nottingham, where Max received treatment and where some of his tumour sample remains in the laboratory. We’re incredibly proud to stand alongside Jackie as she campaigns for change in Max’s name. No family should have to face a future where treatment options run out. We urgently need greater investment in brain tumour research to help improve treatments and outcomes for children and families affected by this devastating disease. πŸ’› Read more: bit.ly/4ir4KvZ #BrainTumourResearch #ChildhoodBrainTumours #ClinicalTrials #TogetherWeWillFindACure

Today, the Lads power washed a pensioner’s back yard to clear slippery moss, took out the weeds from the outdoor spaces of another resident and cleared up leaves, rubbish, overhanging branches and painted out graffiti to make the barrack steps a less intimidating space. πŸ’ͺ

Never seen a face light up so quick! πŸ₯ΉπŸ’› I don't remember a lot from my childhood I remember bits and pieces, but I definitely remember how it felt to do an elementary school performance and not see your parents in the audience. I'm so glad that these kids don't have to experience it.

Thank you so much, you lovely, lovely people, for helping to spread this warning far and wide, and helping to save lives. Aren't you brilliant?😊 I'm thrilled that this topic is sparking such important conversations, and is still generating broad media coverage, with the advice being featured across various mainstream press and community networks, both here and internationally. And I'm delighted to see that instead of cherry picking a snippet, they've published my whole tweet, which is really brilliant news. I’m incredibly grateful to see it resonate so widely, and awed at the sheer amount of kind compassionate people working together to get this important message amplified. Thank you to everyone who has read and shared it! I am awed at the uptake, and so grateful for your amplification - you will have saved so many lives.πŸ’ž nitter.cf/HedgehogCabin/status/2…
