It's so tragic that universal love is all you need and it's already right there but you also need to proactively defend against those who don't believe either of those claims to be true.

My hypothesis: solving faster travel drastically reduces barriers to critical cultural exchanges; & credible prospects of material abundance would improve geopolitics (though short-term destabilise further).

I suspect people who have trouble committing to a partner (“what there’s someone I like even more?”) don’t realize that if you spend a year with anyone who you’re sufficiently compatible with, they quickly become the best in the world for you

Are AI companies hyping up their technology's catastrophic tail-risks to distract media attention from its actual harms? Probably not. And if so, the strategy is failing. vox.com/politics/505834/ai-d…

seeing how you vibe with individual managers and colleagues, how they enable you/not, how they make you feel, how they help you spot unknown unknowns, point out your blindnesses > writing docs in abstract about potential impact of certain roles (but probs do both)

It feels like a good number of "financially independent" researchers and research groups eventually fail. Has anybody formulated interesting models of checks-and-balances for "independence," especially in audit contexts? Interdependence probably shouldn't be zero in governance?
