On the evening of that same day, I had to apply a brown plaster on the back of my palm to secure an intravenous cannula. Upon detaching it the next morning, my skin reacted to the plaster. I experienced severe irritation around the area, which turned into rashes and then into sores. I had to call that friend to tell him that I think I might have just discovered my first allergy. That allergic reaction just repeated itself while I'm still admitted to the hospital. It only just occurred to me that I should have prompted the staff on duty during my first consultation with the doctor after becoming stable. They had to secure another IV cannula with a different plaster, but the deed was already done.
