So so much misunderstanding of the Disaster Victim Identification process and particularly the use of DNA on here today. It’s really important that journalists learn about this before they need to report on it, and it can be revelatory to citizens too

PRIOR to criminal act on parade day we were messaging you about safety, overcrowding, lack of contingency in your event planning (particularly around foreseeable large numbers)… what unfolded means you have been able to distract from own failings. You continue to fail to learn

Not a reason…. Completely foreseeable and an ongoing problem. Not a great fan of this excuse when I am being DMd about how unsafe people felt

Recognition from fellow journalists is much appreciated as this is undoubtedly a difficult and polarising story, with a tragic outcome. Many people still do not accept its legitimacy but it was an important public interest story which sparked public debate about key issues of our age timeshighereducation.com/opi…

This story is about more than EDI - it's about whether we can trust publicly-funded institutions to behave with integrity when difficult issues are raised - or whether they'll choose to retaliate against whistleblowers. It's also about the failure by multiple elite UK institutions covering academia, journals, publishers and the BBC to do basic checks on highly dubious claims; instead they decided to nod along with improbable tales that defy logic or physical reality

I'm leading a project to reimagine how we better control truly dangerous people by designing a national Exceptional Risk Management Authority spanning all motivations/age from pre-crime to post supervision. Link below. Please get involved. 10/10

I think 'badly' hardly covers it. In a random sample of 90 Serious Further Offence reviews conducted *after* someone being supervised killed, raped etc again. 53% of these 'required improvement.' Nearly half failed to properly consider contributory MAPPA arrangement failures. 5/

The vast majority of MAPPA Cat 1 offenders (100,894) are sex offenders. (what MAPPA was created for) This category is the lowest tier of formal multi-agency co-ordination. This is the burden *currently* being managed by the probation service. How is it doing? 4/
Dr Gemma Ahearne retweeted
In 2025/6 *162* of these offenders were being monitored at the highest levels - 2, 3 and 4 MAPPA. So the most dangerous including terrorists offended seriously again in big numbers. 'Serious' includes murder, manslaughter, rape or sexual violence towards an u13 year old. 3/
