Notes, tasks, passwords, files, bookmarks, a calendar, a mood / medication tracker, and a Markdown editor. One private app. Free, open source: PrivacyNotes.app
PrivacyNotes v0.694: Ninja (Cmd+K for everything), table formulas, Kanban boards, web clipping and a daily check-in. This is the biggest update PrivacyNotes has had. Here is what is new, grouped by feature. Full notes with screenshots: privacynotes.app/changelog
PrivacyNotes.app is now fully cross-platform:
macOS: .dmg or Homebrew
Windows: installer or winget
Linux: AppImage or .deb
iOS: App Store
Web Browser
Android: Google Play, Zapstore, Obtainium or APK
PrivacyNotes is now on Google Play. A review on Play would help us a lot: play.google.com/store/apps/d…
Your account and Pro come with you. Already on the Zapstore or Obtainium version? You can stay, as they keep updating. To move to Play, check that the app says "Synced" and have your 12 words ready, because the Play version must replace the old install.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

Concerning indeed Meta AI
Nah this is wild. If this is how Meta AI can analyze publicly shared photos, users deserve far more transparency. This is a concerning new reality. #MetaAI #Meta #Facebook #Privacy #ParentingOnline #DigitalFootprint

Recently came across this new open source encrypted notes app.
It's a little different from your regular notes app, though.
It has file templates for password storage, credit card info storage, ssh key storage along with regular notes and bookmarks.
Feels like it is intended for storing more of your critical information than any notes.
So those account recovery codes, ssh keys etc can be saved with zero knowledge encryption.
You may check out its website or GitHub repo 👇

Firefox for iOS just shipped a native ad blocker.
No extensions. No Safari content blocker setup. One switch.
Settings > Browsing > Content > Ad Blocker
EasyList-based, blocks before load, takes out pop-ups and overlays. Rolling out gradually so be patient if you don't see it yet.

1/ A phone that refuses to unlock creates no new crime.
A phone that erases itself creates one.
That's the GrapheneOS border case in two lines, and it's why the duress password is the wrong thing to be arguing about.
3/ The tell: asked about the case, GrapheneOS mostly talked about everything except the duress password. They called it "only one component" and pointed at auto-reboot to BFU, charging-only USB, secure-element rate limiting.
None of which asks anything of you at the counter.
