Thank you so much @tableaupublic for the #VizoftheDay and helping to celebrate #NationalSocialWorkMonth!
🙏🙏🙏
This #VizOfTheDay by @professorkao visualizes Canada’s social workers as a symbolic tree, using a unit-style design where each leaf represents an individual.
By combining color encoding and narrative design, it highlights both the scale and the human impact behind the data.

What folks may not realize is that having a PhD can actually lower one's job marketability... you're either overqualified for most positions or you've become too narrowly specialized or niche.🤷
Jack Weis has applied to more than 2,300 jobs since he graduated from Princeton in 2024 with his Ph.D. in chemical engineering. He still doesn’t have a job. on.wsj.com/4sfxSLc

Thank you @TableauPublic!!! 🙏
This #VizOfTheDay by @professorkao displays the well-being of 35 youth participants across 3 scales according to Self-determination Theory.
He visualizes critical shifts in their autonomy, competence, and relatedness levels using a 3-axis radial and ternary chart and plots them over time in a line chart.

Stranded in Ottawa...😩
Canadian family stranded in Ottawa after being denied re-entry to U.S. ctvnews.ca/ottawa/article/ca…
It’s a generational thing…
Asian kids work really hard because they see their parents working really hard… cooking all those 44-ingredient dishes.
Sometimes, one has to defy the laws of geography for the sake of aesthetics... 😅
In this example, I use @qgis to move Hawaii, Alaska (also scaled to 40%) & Puerto Rico... This way, I can create a map of US in one worksheet in @tableau.
Helpful?

Thank you #DataFam for all of the support, wisdom, mentorship & friendship over the years! I can only hope to give back a fraction of what I've gained...

Inspired by: @researchremora
Tools: @qgis (data prep), @tableaupublic (visualization)
Data: Natural Earth Data
And all done with one map layer in one sheet, thanks to Sarah Battersby's projection hack and a bit of QGIS manipulation...
