Ken Paxtonโs own lawyer endorses James Talarico:
โI defended Ken Paxton for years in the impeachment trial and in state criminal cases. But in my view, I think Ken has lost sight of his core mission, which is to represent the people of Texas.
And unlike Ken, I believe that you, James, believe in unity over division and that you know how to assemble not only Democrats but Independents and Republicans and we need that right now.
We need unity, we don't need any more division and that's why I'm supporting you.โ

๐ CALIFORNIA COAST UNDER PRESSURE: PCH CLOSURES, FRACTURING CLIFFS AND BUILDINGS AT RISK
LOS ANGELES / ORANGE COUNTY / PACIFICA, CALIFORNIA | OCTOBER 28, 2026
RETURN OF ISIS | U.S. WEATHER & INFRASTRUCTURE REPORT
California's coastline is experiencing a convergence of unusually high tides, coastal flooding, powerful surf, and accelerating bluff erosion, with portions of Pacific Coast Highway closed or restricted and existing structures increasingly exposed to shoreline instability.
From flooded neighborhoods in Orange County to fractured coastal slopes near Laguna Beach and erosion-threatening properties in Malibu, the consequences are extending beyond beaches and into critical transportation corridors, homes, and utilities.
๐ง PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY: MULTIPLE CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS
In Sunset Beach, Huntington Beach, seawater flooded residential streets and sections of Pacific Coast Highway as exceptionally high tides pushed into coastal communities.
PCH closures have affected the stretch between Warner Avenue and Anderson Street, with additional restrictions on nearby roads.
Newport Beach recorded a tide of approximately 8.4 feet on October 27, while San Pedro registered a preliminary record of 8.02 feet on October 26.
Coastal flood warnings and advisories remain in effect through Thursday, October 29, with additional tidal flooding possible.
Farther north, overnight lane restrictions are scheduled on PCH between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard through October 30 as crews conduct slope and coastal protection work.
๐๏ธ CRYSTAL COVE: 360-FOOT FRACTURE THREATENS HIGHWAY SLOPE
Near Crystal Cove State Park, between Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, a massive fracture has developed in the coastal slope supporting Pacific Coast Highway.
Caltrans estimates the crack extends approximately 360 feet in length and up to 2 feet in width.
The fracture was discovered October 10, prompting emergency intervention as waves and erosion continue to threaten the slope.
California transportation officials have secured $4 million in emergency funding for stabilization.
Work includes protective sheeting, reinforcement at the base of the bluff, rock armoring, and longer-term engineering assessments.
Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction between Reef Point Drive and Irvine Cove Drive while repairs proceed.
๐ MALIBU: EXISTING PROPERTIES AND UTILITIES UNDER THREAT
In Malibu and the Pacific Palisades fire-affected corridor, coastal erosion has become an increasingly serious infrastructure concern.
The City of Malibu has identified 16 red-tagged, high-priority parcels presenting immediate risks to the PCH roadway corridor.
Officials are coordinating with Caltrans and utility providers to evaluate erosion affecting roadway embankments and infrastructure.
The concern is not limited to individual properties. Continued loss of supporting soil can compromise adjacent roads, utility lines, and access routes.
Emergency shoreline reinforcement is also underway along vulnerable sections of the Malibu and Ventura County coastline.
๐ PACIFICA: BUILDINGS LEFT PERCHED ABOVE ERODING CLIFFS
Farther north, in Pacifica near San Francisco, footage shows structures standing alarmingly close to steep, eroded coastal bluffs.
Recent reporting describes exposed foundations, footings, and pipes as king tides and wave action continue battering the shoreline.
These images illustrate the structural consequences of coastal retreat: buildings originally constructed with surrounding ground support can become dangerously exposed as the bluff beneath and around them erodes.
Video location: Pacifica, California. This footage is separate from the PCH closures in Southern California.
๐ MORE THAN A FLOODING EVENT
California's current coastal problems involve several interconnected hazards:
โข Exceptional tides pushing seawater into streets and developed waterfronts
โข Wave action removing sediment from the base of coastal bluffs
โข Fractures developing in slopes supporting transportation infrastructure
โข Existing homes, buildings, and utilities facing increasing exposure
โข Repeated highway closures and emergency stabilization projects
Not every affected location has the same underlying cause, and officials have not established that the various incidents represent a single connected geological event.
What is documented is the growing pressure on coastal infrastructure across multiple California communities.
With another series of elevated tides expected in November, December, and January, the condition of vulnerable roads and coastal structures remains an important issue.
๐ฌ For California coastal residents: Where are you seeing the most significant changes to cliffs, shorelines, roads, or buildings, and how quickly have those changes developed?
