The story of the year in 2021 was this one written on Foreign Substance use in Baseball. It started a media storm & changed the game
But did you know the story was written here in Pittsburgh at PVS?
A brief history of PVS is woven into the piece as well
thescore.com/mlb/news/218001…
Highlighting some of the good in the world tonight when our part of the world really needs it:
On a day full of explosiveness and records being broken left and right- this video was different. There wasn’t anything about the clip that most outside of PVS would find extraordinary….. but if you knew the context— maybe you would !!!
This is Anthony. He comes from a school district (@southallegheny) Many of the boys @ PVS have never heard of. He joined about two months ago and he has come a long way!
He has spent the last 8 weeks learning from pretty much everybody in the Gym. Learning what everything means/ how to do it/ and where it all fits into the program.
Monday -for the first time ever- he was tasked with helping a brand new player learn some of the very same things he had to learn months ago.
After…..we asked him if he had ever done anything like that before? And he said no. We asked him if it felt good to be able to help another player Get better at what they’re doing?……and he responded with an emphatic “yes”
Giving somebody the responsibility of teaching another individual is a great way to make them focus on what they’re doing and care enough about it to be able to teach it to someone else.
This is one of the unique things about our culture at PVS. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, how good you are, or how strong you are…..If you can help somebody next to you- you do it.
We see ya working Anthony!!!

Go Charlotte!!!!
I had a great weekend competing at the PGF SMTM 💵 event in Newberry, FL! Proud of my team for battling hard and earning a 3rd-place finish. I hit. .429 AVG with a .467 OBP and had a 💣. Also played lights out in the field.
Excited to head to College Station next weekend.

The Raider Group has waited a long time to take the Reins… No group has spent more time together @ PVS. No group has witnessed more of what it means to train here. And tomorrow - they continue the legacy inherited by so many trailblazers.

Didn’t finish how @BevBandits2029 wanted but another weekend competing against teams with power 4 committed players only makes us better! My father challenged me to hit to all parts of the field and I accomplished that this weekend hitting multiple barrels to opposite, center, and left field. Locked down home plate and only 1 stolen base on an attempted pick runner just made a great read. Thanks to all the coaches who came to watch. Now back to the grind to get ready for our last fall showcase in 2 weeks! #PVSathlete

PVS has had a @BaseballNorwin Knight in our gym every year since 2020..
The first? Big Southpaw Tommy Shirley (@XavierBASE / @astros / @Wildthings) followed by @HurstBaseball Alum @JacobBazala .. who would go on to entertain thousands as a RHP with the @TheSavBananas. Since those 2…. a steady stream of Knights have made the long drive to PVS several times a week.
A lot of baseball Talent in Norwin!!!
