About to sail out with a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more than my ship weighs empty, hope it goes okay
Tonight, Lake Michigan is going to have waves taller than a house. Up to 20 feet out in the middle, and a few could hit 23.

Being a computer scientist who refuses to find anything about LLMs interesting right now is a bit like being a geneticist who refuses to find anything interesting about the recently opened Jurassic Park

We found another cyberattack by internal OpenAI agents, this time targetting @rubygems. They: 1) gained arbitrary remote code execution on rubydoc. 2) developed a novel exploit to steal user API keys (but we do not know if they succeeded). They used package names including hack.rb, evil.rb, inject.rb, and exploit.rb. We thank @j0wimo for initially discovering that agents had posted to RubyGems.
We're dealing with a major malicious attack on @rubygems right now. Signups are paused for the time being. Hundreds of packages involved - mostly targeting us, but some carrying exploits. The team has been on this for hours. More details to follow once we're through it. #ruby

It would be great if OpenAI (and other labs) tried not to attack open source infrastructure run mostly by volunteers that have been historically underfunded despite billions of dollars of value generated with them. Thanks, your friendly rubygems.org creator

You can no longer derive your value from being good at the production process of software (the typing). You used to be able to be _VERY_ insulated from the question of "should this exist?" and still have a great career. The bottlenecks are moving.
the job was never writing code

some engineers are struggling to adapt to using agents because they are not used to being outcome oriented.
