The Ringer & Puck's Matt Belloni predicts Netflix will pull back on podcasts after firing their Head of Content:
"I think they'll pull back. I could see them investing less"
Bloomberg's Lucas Shaw: "[Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos] wasn't as excited about that type of programming"
We discussed this over the summer - Netflix may have overestimated how many people watched podcasts on YouTube simply because they were something to watch on YouTube, rather than people wanting to pay to watch them nitter.cf/rBillSimmonsPod/status…

I talked on the @rBillSimmonsPod about @ringer’s partnership with @FanDuel and how that might pose a problem down the road as the anti-sports betting movement gains cultural prominence.
“The Ringer has a real culture war issue with gambling.
There’s a real concern gambling companies are bad for everybody - FanDuel being their most recognized sponsor will be a problem”
“It will bring scrutiny in a new way, heat coming from a new direction. Bill’s vulnerable”
