Sometimes burnout is simply being sick and tired of being forced to be a 'team' player who does most of the work while others suck up to management, say the right things, and get the kudos.
I was never a good team player and preferred to do my work solo. I chose to keep my head down, not pander to the boss's ego, and never looked for advancement.

The folks where I used to work got burned out by all the idiotic corporate decrees. It all rolls down hill.
They developed an obsession with indicators. The get passed down from manager to manager and finally to the individual contributor.
We used to mock them. They would have a goal for a number of accidents a month or year. It would be place on a large board in the factory that said, Goal 5 accidents a year.

When they say free food, free money, what they are saying is everything free comes with a price. It comes with a tab attached. The part they are leaving out is someone has to pay for it.
Who do you think that someone is? We the hardworking people of America. They will slowly take most of our income and we can’t do a damn thing about it. As for free? Free is for the freeloaders. The people who refuse to work. Free is for the illegals who enter our society illegally and are rewarded with more money than people who worked all their lives and are living off of their social security.
Forget about middle class America and the few perks they have from hard work. The few necessities they can afford which is detrimental to living. A dependable car, clothing on your back, a roof over your head and just enough money to get by to raise your family. It is middle America who will be hurt the most.
You see that’s how communism works. It works with our money. Without our money the system can’t work. So what they do is tell you is you no longer have to pay for transportation, no longer have to pay for food.
Sounds too good to be true? Because it is. You think the taxes coming out of your checks are too much now? Wait until you see your check after these commies take over. Everything will be controlled. Controlled rent, controlled food, they will tell you how to live. Your income? Crumbs as Nancy infamously once said. You can no longer afford a dependable car. No longer can afford insurance or gas. The little extra you were able to afford will be no more. They will become your ruler and tell you what to do
There is no real government, just rulers with their hand picked servants making sure everything is running according to plan and no one dares step out of line. Those jails they claim they hate? They will be filled immediately with those who dared step out of line.
Who survives? The wealthy. That is why the rich can go along and defend everything this government is trying to do. Hollywood is embracing this because they don’t give a rats ass about the people below them. Forget about our freedoms, that will be taken away and our Constitution will be burned as they piss on its ashes.
Democrats did this but not alone. The RINOs are with them every step of the way. Yes the Dems went progressive, they went far left but even they had a limit. They wanted the power to rule but they took their eyes off the ball due to their fixation to get Trump. With everything the Dems and RINOs do, they eat, drink, breathe Trump. I work nights as a hospital nurse, and I'm raising my two sons on my own.
Around 1 AM, during a quiet stretch on the ward, I opened the home camera app on my phone. It's a habit. A few seconds of a dark, peaceful living room usually helps me get through the rest of my shift.
The screen said, "Camera: OFF."
My stomach tightened. Nobody turns that camera off but me.
My younger son was at home, supposedly asleep upstairs. I texted my older son, who is sixteen.
"The camera's off. What's going on?"
His reply came fast. "I'm out right now, no idea! I'll check when I get back!"
Out. At 1 AM, on a school night.
I stared at that message for a long moment. Then I did something I had set up years ago and almost forgotten. The camera has a microphone setting that runs separately from the video. I switched on the audio only.
Music. Laughing. Something that sounded like a game controller being slammed. At least six or seven voices, none of them my younger son's.
I pressed the talk button.
"Good evening, everyone," I said, in my calmest voice. "This is the lady who pays the electric bill."
The house went completely silent.
"Please turn off the music. Please put down whatever is in your hands. I would like every one of you to be outside in two minutes, and I would like the door to be locked behind you."
I listened to a whole herd of teenagers scrambling for their shoes.
I turned the camera back on and watched them file out the front door, one by one, hoods up, faces down. My son came out last, hands in his pockets, looking at the camera like it had personally betrayed him.
I waited until the last boy left. Then I spoke once more.
"Not you. Come back inside."
He came in, shoulders slumped. The living room behind him was a mess of pizza boxes, cups, and shoes. There was even a bowl of something orange stuck to the carpet.
"Mom, it was just a few friends," he said to the camera. "Why are you so upset?"
I took a slow breath. I had one hour left on my shift and exactly zero energy for an argument.
"I'm not going to yell," I said. "Here is what's going to happen. Tomorrow after school, you will text every one of those boys. They are coming back at four o'clock, and they will bring gloves, because we're all cleaning together."
"Mom, that's embarrassing."
"So is a stranger's pizza on my carpet."
I finished my shift. I went home at 7 AM and slept two hours on the couch while my younger son quietly slid a blanket over me.
At four o'clock sharp, my doorbell rang.
Seven teenage boys stood on my porch, all holding sponges and trash bags. Nobody made eye contact.
"Hello, boys," I said. "There's a vacuum in the hall closet. The bathrooms need scrubbing too."
They worked for three hours. The last one to leave was the tallest of the group, a quiet kid named Marcus. He stopped at the door and said, "Ma'am, we're really sorry. We shouldn't have been here."
"Thank you," I said. "I appreciate that."
That night, my older son sat across from me at the kitchen table. He put a folded piece of paper next to my plate.
It was a list in his messy handwriting. At the top, it said, "House rules (my idea)." Below that were four lines, including "Camera stays on" and "Friends only when Mom is home."
At the bottom, he had written one more sentence.
"I'm sorry I made you worry."
I read it twice.
Then I slid a plate of leftover pasta across the table, and we ate dinner together with the camera on.
