Healthy bread is an oxymoron. It's certainly better than starving.
IS SOURDOUGH THE HEALTHY BREAD? Umm no. Sourdough is still wheat flour, and wheat flour is starch & plant protein. Starch breaks down to glucose in your blood, and the protein is inflammatory to many. Researchers at the Weizmann Institute put people on one week of traditionally made sourdough whole-grain bread and one week of industrially made white bread, in random order. They found no significant difference between the two breads on multiple clinical measures. Each person's gut bacteria stayed about the same no matter which bread they ate. Some people spiked higher on the sourdough, and some spiked higher on the white bread. Bread is optional & not needed. The study and my video are below.

[Child Health x Vaccines] 💉 A new study co-authored by our colleague Panagis Polykretis, PhD in @FrontPubHealth explores parental perceptions of childhood vaccines. Key findings: despite very high trust (90% of parents view pediatric vaccines as essential, 73% trust their safety), knowledge is limited: only 34% can identify the mandatory vaccines and just 17% can tell mandatory shots from recommended ones. The survey also shows that opinions on vaccines differ by political orientation. This suggests that some parents may rely on the position of their political wing rather than seeking information independently. However, informed consent implies that parents truly understand their choices: which vaccines are required, which are optional, what benefits and risks each one carries, and what options exist if they have concerns. This calls for clear, transparent, and accessible institutional and media communication to empower parents. The link to the full study is in the comments.

If by "first wave influencers", you mean the first set of people trying to monetize it, starting after about 2017/18, then yes. We OGs who have been writing or moderating free support groups since 2010 or before, have maintained the importance of fat the entire time.
Most people who tell me carnivore didn't work for them learned it from the first wave of meatfluencers, and that first wave couldn't have told you where the fat was on a cow. They were busy with the organs. Nose to tail or you weren't serious. Raw liver eaten to camera like a dare. Heart, kidney, spleen, a bull's testicle for the thumbnail. And at the end of every sermon, the freeze-dried organ capsules, discount code in the description. Strange how the gospel always finished at a checkout. Fat got a line, if it got anything. That's the diet upside down. Take away the carbohydrate and fat is the fuel, the only fuel left. Protein builds you; it was never meant to run you. The trappers of the north had a name for living on lean meat alone: rabbit starvation. Pounds of it a day, and they wasted away with full stomachs. So the beginners did exactly as they were shown. Sirloin with the white trimmed off. Chicken breast. A palmful of capsules and a glass of water. By week three they were exhausted, blocked up, ravenous and dreaming about toast. Back to the bread they went, telling everyone carnivore had nearly killed them. They never tried carnivore. They tried lean protein and pills, then blamed the cow. That's the mess I spend most of my week cleaning up. - Buy the cut with the most white on it. - Treat butter as a food, not a garnish. - Pour the fat from the pan back over the meat. - Tip what's left in the pan into a mug and drink it. Nobody in six years has ever quit carnivore because there was too much butter on the plate. They quit because there wasn't enough.

José Mourinho, strong as he is, has conceded the point. The point is self-censorship. China is not a football power by any stretch of the imagination. Its national team is subpar given its size and economic heft, its domestic league a money-pit for washed-up European players, and its contribution to the actual game is negligible. Yet one offhand joke by Kylian Mbappé about a meme that slapped his face on Mao Zedong was enough to get Chinese state television to cancel La Liga broadcasts, sponsors to dump him, and the entire Spanish league to issue a groveling apology while promising “sensitization protocols” and awareness training for clubs and players so it never happens again. "Awareness and communication protocols" is literally what Javier Tebas, the head of La Liga, is proposing. This is the same man who had no problem accusing Real Madrid's management of behaving like Nazi chief Joseph Goebbels. Do you realize how Orwellian this is? During Woke 1, the publishing industry started mandating sensitivity-readers to make sure nothing "offensive" is printed. Now it's being applied to sport. A player says something that is factually unremarkable (Mao ran a dictatorship and said so himself) and the institutional response is not to defend speech or shrug at a meme. It is to apologize profusely and create internal machinery that teaches everyone the new red lines so that the revenue stream is protected. José Mourinho’s advice here, that sometimes the best thing is to keep your mouth shut, is the honest description of the mental trade-off here. The whole point of the Chinese imposing disproportionate responses to Mbappé's slight is to create a world where self-censorship is the default. The bargain we were sold was that integrating China into the global economic system would liberalize it. We were told that exposure to open societies and commercial incentives would, over time, erode the Party’s control. What has happened instead is the reverse. Chinese authorities treat access to their market as a political lever and foreign institutions treat that lever as a reason to overhaul its own norms to resemble what the CCP wants. The same pattern appears in film studios quietly cutting scenes, in brands pre-clearing statements, in sports bodies inventing protocols so no one ever again accurately describes history in the presence of Chinese money. China does not need to win on the pitch, or dominate box office, or even lead in technology. It only needs enough economic weight that other people police themselves on its behalf. This distortion is occurring in EVERY domain - trade, investment, entertainment, corporate governance, sport, education, etc. A country that still jails people for memes about its founding leader now effectively sets the boundaries of acceptable speech for European football leagues, and the weak ass global footballing brands and leagues cooperate.

There's chat about this study, which claims statins reduced total plaque & non-calcified plaque and more intensive statins did so even more... It didn't mention... - Calcified plaque increased. - The pre-defined primary endpoint (18-month change in coronary flow as measured with FFRCT). This was not reported. - Participants were UNhealthy people (63% smoking history) who had just had a CT scan and had received bad news. They would have made other changes but this study had no control group so we can't tell if lifestyle changes made the difference. But yeah, let's just claim statins (& ezetimibe) did everything.

We need studies that can discriminate between reward and energy hypotheses.
So do ketogenic diets. Both could be explained by improved energy access. Compulsive behaviour is increased with energy and sleep restriction (and these are physiologically related). An intervention making it easier for your body to use fat stores and incoming food would be expected to improve inhibitory control. So we need studies that can discriminate between reward and energy hypotheses.

She was born in Iran and built her life in Afghanistan a woman's rights activist with a voice that frightened the men around her. So her ex-husband threw acid on her face. In the hospital, after the surgeries, she sat with her head shaved doctors had taken skin from her scalp to rebuild her face. She was still bandaged, still bleeding, still healing. But her son was not by her side. He was living with his father. And his father set the condition: if you want to talk to your son, you will do it on a video call so I can see what you've become. She accepted. She needed to hear her child's voice. On that call, her ex-husband looked at her destroyed face and smiled. He said: "Look at you. You've become like a monster. You'll never dare go out in public again people will be terrified when they see you. I dare you. I dare you to go out and talk about women's rights." He thought he had broken her. He thought that face was the end of her. He was wrong. Every scar on her face became a sentence in her speech. They took her beauty so she took his fear and turned it into courage. Today she walks in public with her head high, and she speaks about women's rights louder than ever. He wanted to bury her in shame. Instead, he gave the world a witness. That is why I invited her to our Freedom gala in Poland to dedicate to her the Medal of Freedom I received. Because she is the symbol of resilience itself: the symbol of every woman whose face was burned but whose voice could not be silenced. Thank you, Poland for opening your doors, for giving visas to my delegation of women from Iran, Afghanistan, and Cameroon. We are about to start a global women's rights movement and we will go together, all of us, to the German Parliament very soon. This time, I invited 10 women. In Berlin, we will invite more dissidents. @FahimaSarfaraz
