WHY WORLD POLITICS CAN NO LONGER IGNORE BIAFRA: A Call for Freedom, Justice, and Global Responsibility
For over fifty years, the cry for Biafra has been treated as a domestic affair of Nigeria. That framing is a dangerous mistake. The freedom of Biafra is not a local agitation. It is a test of the world order's commitment to self-determination, human rights, and sustainable peace.
The world must be concerned because what happens in Biafraland affects world politics itself.
1. The Right to Self-Determination Is Not Negotiable.
The United Nations was built on the principle that all peoples have the right to freely determine their political status. The people of Biafra, with over 60 million people, culture, territory and historical nationhood before the 1914 amalgamation are a people by every definition of international law. Their demand for a referendum is not radical; it is the most democratic demand possible. If the world can support referendums in Scotland, Catalonia, and South Sudan, it cannot deny the same to Biafra.
2. The Unfinished Crime of 1967-1970
The world watched as over 3.5 million Biafrans, mostly children, were starved to death in a blockade that the international community itself called genocide. No truth commission, no reparations, no restructuring has ever happened. You cannot bury a nation and expect perpetual peace. The failure to resolve the Biafra question is why Nigeria remains in a cycle of bloodshed, from the Niger Delta to the Fulani banditry and terrorism and the farmer-herder crisis. Ignoring the root cause will never bring stability to the Gulf of Guinea.
3. The Human Rights Emergency Is Happening Now.
Today in Biafraland, arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial killings, burning of communities, and indefinite detention of innocent unarmed Biafran youths without trials in court are daily realities. Amnesty International and Intersociety have documented systematic abuses. The world preaches rules-based order while looking away. If global peace means anything, it must mean the protection of Biafran lives.
4. A Free Biafra Is in the World's Strategic Interest
A free, democratic, and economically vibrant Biafra will be a stabilizing force in West Africa. Biafrans are among the most educated, entrepreneurial, and industrious people in Africa. An independent Biafra will:
- Secure the Gulf of Guinea and global oil supply chains through accountable governance,
- Become a hub for technology, trade, and innovation,
- Stem the tide of irregular migration by creating jobs at home,
- Serve as a true democratic partner to the West, the EU, and the UN system.
5. What We Ask The World To Do.
We are not asking for war. We are asking for what civilized nations do: a democratic process.
We call on the United Nations, African Union, European Union, United States, United Kingdom, and the Organisation for Global Peace and Sustainability (OGPS) to:
- Demand an immediate UN-supervised referendum for the people of Biafra,
- Press for the unconditional release of all Biafran political prisoners,
- Establish an International Commission of Inquiry into war crimes and ongoing human rights violations in Southeast Nigeria,
- Recognize that sustainable peace in Africa is impossible without justice for Biafra.
The freedom of Biafra is not a threat to world peace. It is the pathway to it.
For too long the world said "never again" after every genocide. Now is the time to prove it.

“We Do Not Want You to Know Him”: DOS Pushes Institution Over Chika Edoziem
Some of you are still judging IPOB, led by the Directorate of State (DOS) under Chika Edoziem, through the lens of a personality cult. Understand this and know peace. We are not building Chika Edoziem; rather, we are building institutional authority. We projected Nnamdi Kanu for over 10 years. That was a terrible mistake, and we are working to amend it. Today, the same person we projected says that Ndi Igbo joined IPOB because of him and not because of Biafra. He now sees us as hired people that he can sack at any time. We have accepted our earlier projection as a horrible blunder, and we are now working to promote the institution, not the personality.
We are not presenting Chika Edoziem to the world. No!, We are presenting the DOS as an institution to the global community. Do not expect to see Chika Edoziem the way you see Nnamdi Kanu. Remove the mentality that nobody knows him. We do not want you to know him; we want you to acknowledge an institution-based IPOB.
We have learned a terrible lesson from the individual we projected. When he attained relevance, he subjected our cause to the dustbin and presented himself as the ultimate authority. When someone sees himself as the one who decides who lives and who dies, we should be very worried.
The DOS under Chika Edoziem seeks to move the Biafra project from personality centred mobilisation toward an institution based framework.

THE HOMELAND LEADERSHIP
OFFICIAL MEMORANDUM
October 5, 2026
URGENT CAUTIONARY NOTICE: FILL THE SOKOTO FORM THEY ARE CIRCULATING IN BIAFRALAND NOW AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Regardless of your emotion, your fear, your doubt, or your disbelief, it changes absolutely nothing. What must be said must be said, and what must be defended must be defended, because the survival of our nation supersedes sentimentality and individualism.
The current leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the heading of Mazi Chikadibia Edoziem, has said enough is enough to careless decisions that lead to the arrest, disappearance, or even death of IPOB members. And it is a matter of verifiable record that such tragedies have completely stopped since this current leadership started calling the shots.
So, we will not allow rogue elements to reverse these gains.
The Homeland Leadership hereby issues this final, stern warning to all Biafrans in the homeland to completely disconnect themselves from the man currently held in the Sokoto prison facility. The Nigerian state is using him to execute a broader depopulation agenda against our people through the following calculated traps:
The Failed Identity Harvest: The government first held him in DSS custody to harvest the biometric data and National Identification Numbers (NIN) of visitors in order to track down IPOB hardcores conveniently when they choose.
The Sokoto Prison Lure: When that failed, they moved him to Sokoto and declared the doors “wide open” as a desperate trap to fish out and track remaining loyalists.
The Unit/Zone Extortion and Form Scam: Having failed in the first two and in their state propaganda, they have now instructed him to distribute physical forms into IPOB units and zones to collect members’ phone numbers and extort money.
Nnamdi Kanu, at the direction of the government, has also been hosting WhatsApp meetings with his agents whom he planted in different states of Biafraland and beyond, dishing out orders and guidelines to destroy IPOB and continue depopulating Biafra.
Therefore, if you are foolish enough to contribute your money to a man who has squandered IPOB funds for years without accountability, do so. After all, it is your own money. But, for the sake of your life, do not submit your name or your phone number, or fill out those forms from Sokoto, as they are persuading you to do.
Anyone who ignores this warning has only themselves to blame. The court has already confirmed that Nnamdi Kanu is a criminal and sentenced him. Anyone associating with him is abetting criminality. The government will come after you in their due time.
IPOB will not rescue anyone who is abducted, arrested, or disappeared tomorrow because of these forms. If the government presents a filled form as proof of your membership of the Nnamdi Kanu group, that form will serve as our immediate basis to disassociate ourselves from you. We will tell the court that we were ignorant of your actions and that you betrayed the struggle by submitting your data to the enemy.
This is our unalterable stand, and we are not apologetic about it.
Signed:
Mazi Expensive

IPOB DOS Rejects Link to Four Arraigned Suspects, Challenges Police, DSS to Produce Evidence
2nd Oct. 2026
The Directorate of States (DOS) of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has dismissed reports linking four men recently arrested and arraigned in court to the organisation, insisting that none of them has ever been a member of IPOB or its affiliated structures.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, and signed by the DOS Press Secretary, Dr C. Okadigbo, on behalf of the leadership of the organisation under Mazi Chukwukadibia Edoziem.
The individuals named in the statement are Michael Okafor; Chinedu Joseph Chukwudozie, also known as Kante; Chibunna Olisa; and Chigozie Olisa, also known as Ability.
The IPOB leadership the DOS described reports identifying the suspects as members of the organisation as “false” and an attempt to associate IPOB with criminal activities......... obongexpress.com/2026/10/ipo…
DOS PUBLIC CLARIFICATION
Date: 2nd, October 2026
RE: MICHAEL OKAFOR, CHINEDU JOSEPH CHUKWUDOZIE ALIAS KANTE, CHIBUNNA OLISA, CHIGOZIE OLISA ALIAS ABILITY ARE NOT MEMBERS OF IPOB
The attention of the Directorate of States of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership of Mazi Chukwukadibia Edoziem has been drawn to the false news, misleading and circulating in the media that the above named persons who were arrested and arraigned in court are members of IPOB.
We wish to categorically state that this is FALSE, MALICIOUS AND A CALCULATED ATTEMPT TO LINK IPOB TO CRIMINALITY.
We state for the records:
1. They are not members of IPOB. The persons named; Michael Okafor, Chinedu Joseph Chukwudozie alias Kante, Chibunna Olisa, and Chigozie Olisa alias Ability have NEVER been members of IPOB. They are unknown to our movement, they are not in any IPOB/ESN family unit or formation worldwide.
2. IPOB maintains a strict record of its membership: Our members are disciplined and non-violent, IPOB does not harbour criminals.
3. Nigerian security agencies are fond of this blackmail: Whenever they arrest criminals, cultists, or their own agents, they quickly tag them IPOB/ESN to tarnish our peaceful image before the court and the international community.
We challenge the Nigeria Police/DSS to produce any evidence, registration, meeting attendance, or any authentic material proof linking these individuals to IPOB. We can assure you that they have none.
For as long as they will not get tired of their efforts to link criminals to the hallowed name of IPOB we will not get tired of debunking their petty lies and deceit.
As we promised them, the modus operandi of the ESN will continue to be a puzzle they can NEVER break.
We therefore urge the general public, the media, and the court to disregard the false label. The trial of these individuals has nothing to do with IPOB.
IPOB is a peaceful movement registered globally and focused on the self-determination of the Biafran people through lawful means.
Signed:
Dr C. Okadigbo
DOS Press Secretary.

DOS Rejects Imo Police Claim of ESN Camp Raid, Calls Report a “Recycled Propaganda Script”
By Anyi Kings
The Biafra Post | September 24, 2026
The Directorate of State (DOS) of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has rejected the Imo State Police Command’s claim that security operatives recently discovered and dismantled an alleged Eastern Security Network (ESN) camp at Ubah Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.
In a public briefing dated September 22, 2026, and signed by Dr. C. Okadigbo, DOS Press Secretary, the organisation described the police account as a “recycled propaganda script” and questioned the evidence presented by the authorities.
The dispute follows a police statement issued in September concerning investigations into the August 21 attack on Agwa Divisional Police Headquarters. According to the police, two suspects were arrested and officers subsequently raided an alleged hideout at Ubah Agwa, where they reported recovering an AK-47 rifle, two magazines containing 52 rounds of ammunition, a grenade, military and police uniforms, Biafra flags and ESN-marked clothing, among other items.
DOS challenges evidence
In its statement, the DOS said it has consistently maintained that there is no ESN camp in Agwa and questioned whether the recovered materials independently establish the existence of an organised camp.
The statement specifically questioned the circumstances surrounding the alleged exchange of gunfire reported by police, asking why there was no publicly presented footage, photographs of the scene, bullet-impact evidence or other independently verifiable material.
The DOS also questioned the police account concerning Chiemela, popularly known as “Disaster.” Police said he was killed during the August 21 incident, while the DOS questioned why subsequent investigations and arrests were still being linked to the alleged camp if the individual described as a kingpin had already been killed.
Dispute over independent verification
Another major issue raised by the DOS was the absence, according to its statement, of independent observers at the location.
The organisation said no community leader, journalist or independent monitor was taken to the site and questioned the absence of publicly available drone footage or body-camera footage.
The police account, however, states that officers entered an abandoned, uncompleted bungalow after suspects allegedly opened fire and fled. Police said the search produced the weapons, ammunition, uniforms and other exhibits.
Arrests also questioned
The DOS further disputed the portrayal of Jones Okechukwu Anyim, 29, and Happiness Uche, 32, as IPOB/ESN members, arguing that the two are residents of the Agwa area and should not be labelled members of the organisation without substantiated evidence.
Police said Anyim was arrested on September 15 following information obtained from Uche and that both arrests were connected to investigations into the August attack and other alleged crimes in the area.
The police have said the arrested suspect would be charged after investigations are completed, while efforts to locate other fleeing suspects were continuing.
Wider controversy
The latest disagreement highlights the continuing contest between security agencies and IPOB representatives over the attribution of armed violence in parts of the South-East.
While the police maintain that the Ubah Agwa location was an alleged IPOB/ESN hideout and have cited recovered weapons and other exhibits as evidence, the DOS disputes both the existence of the camp and the interpretation of the recovered materials.
As of the latest reports reviewed, the competing accounts have not been independently reconciled through publicly available evidence from the location.
The DOS concluded its September 22 statement by maintaining that there was no ESN camp in Agwa, while calling on the Nigerian government to explain what it described as unanswered questions surrounding the operation.

Folorunso Gideon Ibukuntomiwa, Celestina Ekene Chukwudi and Chisom Peace Asom, of Covenant University in Ogun State, and Tmitope Damilola Oyebajo, of Lead City University in Ibadan, in a paper dated March 2025 (Ibukuntomiwa and others 2025), reported:
‘Nigeria is a multiethnic and multicultural nation with over 250 ethnic groups, and federalism was adopted as a form of administration to manage the ethnic and regional variations of the country. There are several issues with federalism in Nigeria, such as the concentration of power at the center, corruption, and unequal resource distribution. The IPOB drive for self-determination reflects the problems with federalism in Nigeria, especially in the southeast, where the group has attracted many supporters. The group maintains that Nigeria’s federal system has failed to solve systemic disparities and injustices faced by the Igbo people and that the only answer is to form an independent state of Biafra. The Nigerian government, on the other hand, sees IPOB’s call for independence as a danger to national unity and territorial integrity.
DOS PUBLIC BRIEFING
22nd September 2026
The Continued "ESN/IPOB Camp Bust" is a Recycled Propaganda Script
The Imo State Police Command's statement on Friday 18th September 2026 that they busted an ESN camp in Ubah Agwa, Oguta LGA, does not stand up to any independent scrutiny. It is the same lie they have been recycling since 2022.
1. The IPOB leadership has maintained for years that there's no ESN camp in Agwa.
IPOB/ESN is not a terrorist organisation and does not own any terrorist camp anywhere in world.
2. Their fabricated evidence does Not stand the test of factual scrutiny.
They claim they recovered 1 AK-47 with no identification number and 2 magazines from the same location where they claim a fierce gun battle happened and hoodlums fled with gunshot injuries. If there was a fierce exchange, where are the bullet holes, the blood trail, the bodies, the video? One rifle for a whole camp?
Then came in their usual Nollywood props: 4 military uniforms, 5 police uniforms, 3 Biafra flags, 6 Biafra regalia, 4 ESN berets, ATM cards, foreign currencies, Biafran currency, a shrine, ritual materials, enlarged photographs. This is the exact same inventory list from 2022, 2023, 2024 raids in the same Ubah Agwa/Izombe forest. They have been announcing they "dislodged" the same camp for 4 years.
3. They said a kingpin by name Chiemela aka "Disaster" was killed during the foiled attack on Agwa Divisional Headquarters on August 21, 2026. If he was killed then, why is the "investigation" of that attack leading to an arrest on September 15 of Jones Okechukwu Anyim and Happiness Uche, and then a raid where everyone escaped? If you killed the kingpin, who are you still fighting in an empty bungalow?
4. No Independent Verification, No Community Confirmation
The people of Ubah Agwa have repeatedly said there is no ESN camp in their community. What the police call a camp is known farmland and family houses. No community leader, no journalist, no independent monitor was taken to the site. No drone footage, no bodycam. Just a police press release by DSP Henry Okoye.
5. Whenever police fail in their responsibility to protect both people and infrastructure in Imo, whether security/private infrastructure, their predictable next line of action is to regugitate stale stories of "we busted ESN camp." It is a pattern to justify extrajudicial killings and extort the communities. They arrest random youths in this case Jones Anyim, 29, and Happiness Uche, 32, both from Agwa and label them ESN/IPOB.
When will DSP Henry Okoye stop this disgraceful and shameful behaviour of criminalising innocent Imo youths? the world has had enough of your shame.
Are there no more men in Imo State who can speak and condemn how Hope Uzodimma is using the Nigeria police to destroy the lives of unarmed Imo youths and tag them terrorists?
We maintain that there was no ESN camp busted in Agwa, Oguta because none existed.
We said and will continue to say it to the Nigeria government that the modus operandi of the ESN will remain a puzzle they can neither understand nor have the capacity to solve.
Signed
Dr C. Okadigbo
DOS Press Secretary.

The Great IPOB Institutionalisation.
One good thing about the institutionalisation of the IPOB freedom movement by the DOS is that it will solve the problem of being an opposition to becoming a structure for freedom and liberation.
A freedom fighting organisation like IPOB with millions of young people as members worldwide was reactive, charismatic, built around a cause and around one leader.
1. When a movement says "We are against this." An institution will say "We are here for this, and this is how we will do it when no one is watching." It keeps down principles.
2. Freedom fighters are human beings. We get tired, corrupted, imprisoned or killed. But an institution distributes power and heroism, It creates departments, constitutions, laws, succession, accounts etc, The good thing is that the idea no longer needs one leader or the creator to survive.
3. Without institutionalisation, freedom fighting will be a story told by old people. With institutionalisation, it becomes a curriculum, archives, museums, legal precedent, etc., It stops being nostalgic and starts being training for the next generation who were not part of the oppressed.
The beautiful thing is that institutionalisation preserves the focus and conscience of the struggle, not just its name but keeps its ability to dissent against itself.
An institutionalised IPOB will know how to protest against its own leadership and that's the rarest thing in this part of the world.
