I know a lot of great people at @binance and today is a tough day for them. Best wishes to all of them as they deal with this situation.
This is an issue that affects the whole industry and only by working together can we push back against it.

Regarding this security incident, there are many questions about the technical details. Based on the information currently available, we will clarify a few points:
1️⃣ This is not a case of hacking into one computer and transferring money
This is not an incident that could be carried out through a single device. The hacking of an employee's computer was the starting point of this attack. Attacks targeting cryptocurrency institutions are usually highly targeted, and attackers often try to use complex methods to infiltrate systems.
We have already discovered important clues related to the incident and have taken immediate measures to control the risk. The related investigation and tracing efforts are still ongoing. At this stage, the platform's core risk control and emergency mechanisms have been activated, and the security of user assets is our top priority.
2️⃣ Regarding "whether engineers have excessive permissions"
This is not an incident where the attacker directly used the permissions of a certain engineer to complete the fund transfer, nor was it caused by a single person performing a "one-click operation." The related anomalies involve a more complex attack process. It should be emphasized that the current investigation has not attributed responsibility to any individual. The company will bear the corresponding responsibility and continue to carry out subsequent handling and security upgrades.
3️⃣ Facts that can be confirmed at present
No evidence of wallet private key leakage has been found. Regarding user fund security, all losses caused by this incident will be fully covered by the SAFU fund and company funds, and users will not bear any losses. About US$3 billion in affected assets have been frozen on-chain. We are cooperating with law enforcement agencies and blockchain intelligence organizations to investigate, and the flow of funds on-chain is publicly traceable.
4️⃣ Deposit and withdrawal status
Deposits are fully open and unaffected. Withdrawals have been suspended as a precautionary measure and are expected to reopen within 48 hours. The specific time will be subject to the official announcement. We understand this causes inconvenience to everyone and will provide updates on progress as soon as possible.
5️⃣ Follow-up
We will continue to provide updates on progress while ensuring the accuracy of the investigation, and after the incident handling and review are completed, we will announce detailed information and further security reinforcement measures. We will face the exposed issues squarely and will be transparent in addressing them.
Thank you all for your patience and oversight. 💛
I remember reading years ago that Robert Smith from The Cure only answers emails on a Thursday and then only in block capitals. For some reason I still think about that fact every single day.

We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.
This looks amazing. If someone can figure out a way to harness my toilet to mine sats as well then humanity really will have peaked.
Hex and PulseChain 'investors' pushing retardmaxxing to new levels in the comments of this one. Appreciate them for bringing such mirth to CB Towers this Friday morning.

Just seen someone use the word 'chucklemaxx' apparently without irony and now I'm contemplating joining the Amish.
Sunk cost fallacy is off the scale in crypto. So many zombie projects staggering on without users, revenue or purpose because they got a ton of investment years ago and attracted a community of nutcases who still waddle into battle for them. A waste of time, effort and capital.
Even if this rocket Roadster was commercially available, is there any government on Earth that would be cool with people owning a flying car? They're still not exactly down with self driving and yet if the car can fly they'll be like 'yeah cool, can't see any issues here'?
Some of the absolute peak scumbags of this industry have been flushed out over the last year or so. Still a few to go, but nature is healing.

Nice to see ethereum:0x0d8775f648430679a709e98d2b0cb6250d2887ef enjoying a resurgence. Brave Browser is great and this was one of the first tokens that struck me as having a genuinely interesting use case. Dino coins FTW.
Useful tip for crypto folk: follow @liamgallagher and realise there's a big wide world out there where precisely nobody is talking about RWAs, shielded balances, or traffic in Singapore.
