DATA: Some kind of ray or field, or maybe a particle, is just fucking our shit up severely, captain. PICARD: I want that ray, field, or particle contained.

take paternity leave for a few months, your family needs you.
Dejounte Murray is celebrating the birth of his son and won’t play tonight.

.@AbdulElSayed thinks property tax for seniors should be frozen I think its generational warfare and that they should sell their houses if they can't afford them. He concedes I'm 'theoretically correct' but practically wrong Our exchange

dejounte murray is approaching, soon to surpass, eric bledsoe for my least favorite pelicans of all time. there have been far worse players on this team, but my god. i need him sent to siberia.

never has one player coasted on such fake accolades as one second team all defense (playing 20 minutes a night) and one all star selection (injury replacement). a career loser. good lord i want him off my team.

some welcome news in these trying times
Wonderful news: Murera has given birth to a baby girl this morning! Her daughter entered the world bathed in the light of a near-full moon, perfect in every way. We’ve named her Mwezi, which means moon in Swahili. Murera chose to give birth in her stockade, the place that has been her nighttime sanctuary all these years. Her delivery couldn’t have been more seamless – in fact, by the time the Keepers heard the rumbles and rushed to her side, it was all over! Mother and baby are doing very well, while Mwana is already proving to be an excellent and attentive big sister. More to come, but we're filled with joy and wanted to share Mwezi’s first moments with you. (Word is already out amongst the elephants – this morning, every wild-living Umani orphan showed up to meet the newest member of their family!) Congratulations to our extraordinary Murera: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/o…

things are so much worse than you could ever possibly imagine
Herb Jones is averaging just 17 minutes through New Orleans’ first three games, even as the team struggles to close out opponents. His defensive impact, trade interest, uncertain future add to the questions facing the Pelicans. New at In The N.O. intheno.net/herb-jones-caree…

if you claim to be anti-analytics, you simply MUST love the 2026-2027 pelicans of new orleans.
Finally back with new words! My explanation behind the Pelicans continued struggle, their basketball methodology (or lackthereof); specifically the root of the offensive issues from a team-building perspective. A ton of fun graphics in this one, link below - hope y'all enjoy!

Go back and watch a full game from like 1997, it is genuinely unbelievable how little effort is required on defense. And then on offense half the teams just fed it to the big on the low block. The amount of standing around on both ends compared to now is insane.

they found the one democratic candidate who actually cares about winning and they’re crucifying her for it
SCOOP: Democrats have insisted they have nothing to do with the other Dan Sullivan on Alaska's Senate ballot. But aides with the Mary Peltola campaign and DSCC were part of a monthslong secret plan to recruit him to run -- as well as other candidates. nytimes.com/2026/10/28/us/po…

i’m not opposed to shortening the season or making changes to reduce the physical toll of modern basketball, but half of these are acute contact injuries. a shorter season doesn’t save j dub. doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea, but i don’t think it changes much for these guys.
The season just started…

i do also have a suspicion that if the season were shorter then the best players would play more minutes per game.
