Probably our last year trick-or-treating as a family. Sometimes those things catch you by surprise. This one was pretty obvious, which I’m grateful for, so we could soak it in. 🙌🏼
Happy Halloween from my crew of famous TN musicians. We’ve got Dolly, Taylor, Elvis, and Johnny. I’ll let you decide who is who. 😉

Every SAAS tool is clamoring to be your token dealer. General parity. No more walled gardens of data (MCP’s). All have the same chatbot interface. All built upon the same models. They all want to be the central hub - so they’re incentivized to integrate with everyone else. What’s the competitive advantage? Who gets their first? The UI? Existing user base? At the same time they are focused on all of that, the actual product is largely neglected. No new features. Huge pricing increases to cover the compute. Less and less reason for users to stay. Do all SAAS roads lead to Claude? 🤔

The poll worker told me I looked like Benedict Cumberbatch yesterday. That’s the 4th or 5th time I’ve been told that lately. I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Shopify store owners: your Christmas ads will keep selling after your shipping cutoff unless you set this up before December. Meta optimizes for purchases. It doesn’t know the package won’t arrive until December 28th. So an order placed after your cutoff counts as a win, and the

The @browsercompany announced the sunsetting of Arc today. I can’t remember an announcement that’s more disruptive to my workflows since Dropbox bought/ruined Mailbox or Twitter killed its third-party APai (Tweetbot). The worst.

Meta's Andromeda is failing on its promise. "Use broad, load 10 diverse creatives, let the AI sort it out." What I actually see: Meta goes all in on one or two ads before the data supports it. The other eight barely get a chance. The fix isn't more creative. It's a rule: →

Your agency’s SOPs aren’t a quality standard. They’re a staffing tool. The agency model is a volume game: sign more clients, hire more people, train them fast. SOPs are how that works – they let a junior buyer run your account the same way they run the other 30. That’s great

To wrap up fall break, we took the girls to the little town I called home every other weekend as a kid. …also home to the nation’s largest underground lake.

Your store looks profitable at 9pm. By 3am, it isn't. Most Shopify owners never see this, because the dashboard averages the whole day into one number and that number looks fine.

That's the whole job. Cut what's leaking. Feed what's earning. Repeat. The brands that win the fourth quarter aren't the ones who spend the most. They're the ones who waste the least, starting in September - before the auction gets expensive and every mistake costs double.

So: when's the last time anyone looked at your ad spend by hour of day? If the answer is "never," that's your next win. And it's usually the cheapest one you'll get all year.
