Mississippi got it right (again). So did Idaho, South Dakota, Iowa, Arkansas, and Delaware. Delaware!? What’s up with that, Louisiana? Get your act together!
Spaghetti and meatballs. Simple, perfect, and worth every twirl. There’s a reason the classics stick around. At Tabella, we just like to make a good thing even better.

It’s Restaurant Week in Hattiesburg! I’ve been making the rounds at some of my favorite locally owned restaurants, from tacos and sushi to ribeye and soul food. There’s no shortage of great food in the Hub City. Get out there, eat local, and show these small businesses some love!

The master of hospitality does it again. @dhmeyer
In the early 1990s Jill and I were attending the Aspen Food and Wine Festival, and as a part of a package, had tickets to a special dinner. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go and so in the mid afternoon I was looking around in the room where the event was to be held and reading the placard about the details outside in the hallway.
A man walked up and asked, “are you going to the event tonight?“ I replied, “Maybe. I’m not sure. I’m thinking about it.” He said, “looks like a good event. You should probably go.”
We went.
Later that night when the host of the event announced Danny Meyer, and Meyer walked out to introduce himself and the courses, I realized thathe was the man in the hallway telling me I should go to the event. He had good advice then. He still has good advice today. Read this book. Onward.
Thrilled about this.
What Could Possibly Go Right, has! Hope you’ll pick up a copy, or give a listen.

What began as an idea has become something powerful — a heartfelt campaign fueled by community, courage, and Queen Cakes. For every cake sold, $5 goes straight to the Pink Ribbon Fund to support local patients. A sweet way to make a real difference.

I’ve had a lot of desserts over the years, but this one means something more. I’m proud to team up with the Pink Ribbon Fund to sell queen cakes for a cause close to home. For every cake sold, $5 goes directly to support breast cancer patients right here in our community. Let’s do some good—one sweet bite at a time.

41 down, many many thousands to go…
Last week, for one night, we bought out the Vatican. The Pope wasn’t part of the package.
I opened the door to an empty Sistine Chapel for 25 Yonderlust guests, and a few hours later they asked me to close the Vatican for the night.
After 45 years in hospitality, I thought I had seen a lot. This one moved the bar.
