Kentucky residents played a loud recording of the noise pollution from data centers to show its disruptive impact.
Within seconds, county officials grew irritated and told them to “act like adults” and turn it off.
The corrupt politicians who vote for and push these data centers onto our communities couldn’t handle the piercing sound for a few seconds, yet expect residents to live with it every day.

The only ridiculous thing about this image is that clean air standards still aren't a thing in clinical settings, so the sole burden for infection control falls on the patient - the most vulnerable and least powerful person in the room.

We have gone from patients in a group chat, to a team of volunteers, to one of the most well funded initiatives in Long Covid in just ~1.5 years, having just received multiple millions.

Transparency in the process of clinical trial design in ME will allow us to learn from and build on our past (collective) experiences and mistakes instead of hide them, and this progress potentially gives patients new reasons for hope. Much better than being left with conjecture.

This is particularly important in a historically underserved and marginalized area of clinical trials research like ME. Every failed trial represents a potential missed opportunity. Rather than stimulate more research, failed trials just reinforce the narrative it can't be cured.

I think the path toward understanding how decisions are made in clinical trial design in ME and ME-like conditions is making public the minutes from meetings involving the stakeholders. Somebody should be organizing things and taking notes. Transparency is key.

My whole research career has been founded on patient partnership as a cornerstone. When people want to know why patients weren’t consulted on a trial when they have several voting seats on the governing board and an ME charity as a funder, I think we should consider a few items.

Researchers found that older adults with dementia taking donepezil had lower COVID-19 mortality, around 10% vs 13%.
Combining donepezil with metformin was associated with even lower mortality, suggesting a potential benefit worth testing in trials.

Yale and Mount Sinai researchers studied 90 people and found that higher levels of HHV-6 DNA in saliva were associated with greater Long COVID symptom severity.
EBV showed no such association, suggesting these herpesviruses may play distinct roles.

Plenty of people need to hear this: please stop using the DSQ-PEM as the only way to measure PEM in ME, Long Covid, and other conditions. It is not the way the questionnaire was intended to be used. Just because it's easy, doesn't mean it correct.

Weill Cornell Medicine researchers analyzed 497,499 COVID-19 patients through NIH RECOVER.
Paxlovid treatment within 5 days was associated with a 12% lower risk of Long COVID in high-risk adults.
No clear benefit was found in low-risk patients.
