Japan is fucked... it can't seriously fight inflation.
Its interest expenses have more than doubled over the last 4 years...
Fighting inflation through interest rate hikes will blow up interest expenses even further.
The current average yield on Japan's debt is ~1%... while the JP10Y yield is at ~3%.
Just refinancing the debt at current rates would eventually 3x Japan's interest expenses.
Sooner rather than later, Japan will have to give up on fighting inflation...
The same is true for the US and much of the developed world.
We all don't own enough hard assets for when this happens.

🚨 THE FED JUST TORCHED BESSENT’S YEN FIREWALL BY HIKING RATES
Warsh just raised rates 25bps to 3.75–4.00%.
That is poison for Bessent’s yen interventions.
The yen carry trade lives on the rate gap: Borrow nearly-free yen, pile into higher-yielding dollars and Treasuries. The Fed hike just widened that gap again, two days before the BOJ even meets.
A bigger US-Japan differential does two ugly things at once:
• It makes fresh short-yen / long-dollar bets more profitable, inviting another wave of speculation that slams the yen
• It raises the odds that existing carry positions stay crowded… until they don’t.
One BOJ surprise or another intervention and the funding currency snaps higher while the dollar assets drop.
That’s how these trades blow up.
Bessent spent political capital and ESF money trying to prop the yen so Japan wouldn’t dump $1.1T of Treasuries.
A Fed hike first undoes part of that work: yen weakness returns, Tokyo’s incentive to sell US paper rises, and the whole Treasury-Japan stack gets more fragile overnight.
This is how “contained” turns into “unwinding.”
One 25bp move. Two central banks out of sync. Carry crowded. Intervention wasted.

Allow me to interpret what’s happening.
Anthropic is being audited.
Anthropic desires to file an S-1, as they would like to go public. Therefore they need an audit. And by “they”, I mean the VC’s who invested in them. So “they” can exit their position and pass the bag to firemen, nurses, teachers and policemen.
How does this go from the VC’s to the working man and woman? Because the size of the IPO will automatically qualify Anthropic for the Fortune 500 and the Dow Jones 100. Therefore, every working person with a 401k or pension will end up owning a little bit of Anthropic in their mutual funds. Teachers hold the bag, VC’s take the cash. Thank you, come again.
Now back to the audit. The audit required is a PCAOB audit, Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. This audit is what all public companies must comply with be on the stock market. Revenue recognition, expense classification, depreciation, related party transactions, etc. It’s there for consumer protection.
This audit is TOUGH. It is INVASIVE. There is no way to lie your way through it. Any company that passes a PCAOB audit automatically earns my trust on finances.
How do I know? Because I’ve been through it before. @ChangRobotics is 2 year PCAOB audited and currently underway for a 3 year audit. It’s brutal. The same as showing up as the valedictorian to your high school graduation, except you’re naked, and you have to walk on stage and deliver the speech. It’s rough. And I know many incredible founders that can’t pass one.
Now, why would Anthropic be leaking all kind of weird statements lately about “self pacing” a slow down on AI (e.g. they are WAY behind on revenue), and profitable if they didn’t have expenses (e.g. we just learned for the first time what our expenses are, because we’re being audited).
Because they were claiming NVIDIA discounts and Microsoft cloud credits as revenue. Because they had no clue what their expenses were, or why it even mattered. Because they had unlimited investor capital and their job was to burn it to make an LLM. Well, they did a great job with that!
That’s the same as my wife coming home with Bed Bath and Beyond coupons and telling me it’s her paycheck. Ummm, not the same, sweetheart.
So by now hopefully you can see that Anthropic is in a PCAOB audit right now, in order to file an S-1 and go public, and pass the bag to teachers so the VC’s get profits. And hopefully that explains their “crazy” behavior.
In reality you can be grateful to KPMG, PWC, or whoever is auditing Anthropic, because it’s the first time Dario learned that:
1) we are not profitable
2) expenses matter
3) coupons are not revenue
4) we have no clue how to be “profitable”
5) growth is hard when revenue numbers are in an audit and not a power point

From the onset of the strikes on Iran power grid, Iran must simultaneously destroy ALL of QatarGas's train. No delay, immediate and permanent destruction, targeting the ASUs, compressors, and completely obliterating the off shore platforms. Iran should use a very high yield to do this.
Then, it should obliterate Fujairah's port, it should be rendered impossible to rebuild within the next few decades.
Finally, the port of Yanbu should be demolished and rendered inoperable.
The Hormuz should be permanently closed and all US ships should be sunk not just destroyed.
At this point, Iran has tripled the damage the US has done and added interest to it. It should pause here. The US will surely escalate again but a pause buys information, and there is a chance that Trump will back off and get the message.
When he strikes again, Iran can then destroy all the water desalination plants in the middle east as well as all the power stations. It should destroy the saltwater pumping stations, rendering the Gawar field oil permanently inaccessible as the shock will damage the well massively. This means even if the US ever returns to the middle east, there is absolutely no oil to drill.
This is armageddon, exactly as I predicted back in October 2023. And it all started in Sinwar's mind and because the world ignored Gaza.
