The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office has released new details about the death of Lewis “Lou” Balzomo, the 66-year-old man whose disappearance prompted a Silver Alert. Investigators say Lou’s green Toyota Sienna was found partially submerged in a canal east of Fielding on Sunday. Preliminary findings indicate he missed a right-hand turn, traveled through a field and went down a steep 70-foot embankment before the vehicle landed in the canal. Lou was found deceased inside. His family remembers Lou as someone who loved helping others, including serving his community as a volunteer firefighter in Clark County, Nevada. A fundraiser has now been created to help his wife, Cindy, with funeral costs and other unexpected expenses. Lou’s family says he likely would have wanted people to give to other good causes before helping him, but “he would also want to know that Cindy, the love of his life, is being taken care of.” My heart goes out to Cindy and everyone who loved Lou.
