Jian from Silicon Valley gave us “Hotdog or Not Hotdog”
@romainhuet just gave it the French touch: “Not Hotdog. Actually, Croissant.”
His demos never disappoint!

Fav people live on stage! ✨
Excited to kick-off our DevDay Exchange in Berlin & Germany is cooking with Codex!! 🇩🇪
- weekly active users are up 20× since January
- nearly 70% use the desktop app
- 1 in 5 desktop users use skills for docs, slides and spreadsheets
and Germany is now top 5 globally for active API developers.
kudos to all of our community members and ambassadors for all their support and love.
come find me after my talk and let’s hang!! 🚀

We built 7 new demos to show what you can make with the @OpenAI API.
Practice a language, explore a dataset, build a presentation, or watch AI navigate rush hour.
Each comes with a runnable project you can download, or open in Codex to start remixing!

trying to rise to the occasion. grateful to be working with a team that feels the responsibility as deeply as i do.
By the by, if I had to guess, Greg Brockman is currently doing heroic things to fix the internet behind the scenes. And I expect that even though his net contribution to AI safety and resilience will in the final tally be unsurpassable, no one in the space will think to attribute large scale patches to his effort or effort that happens under his leadership.

New Live API feature -- you can set decisions model triggers in the API, for example classify user input or click a UI element. This is much faster than a function call and pairs really nicely with live voice conversations. See voice demo about halfway through this video:

This video was edited entirely in the cloud using @HyperFrames_ and coordinated by my dot using an automatic feedback loop in our internal review app Cutroom.
Romain would review an edit, mark it as "feedback ready", my dot picks that up and then kicks off a new revision!

Add near real-time decisions to your workflow with the Decisions API, now generally available.
Build faster, more cost-efficient apps and agents that can classify text and images, evaluate inputs, and determine what happens next without generating a full model response.

Turns out building with @ChatGPT Sites is pretty addicting. So is clicking cookies. 🍪
I made a little demo that does both, with a database and an MCP server so ChatGPT and Codex can join in.
Come hang out. I hope it gives you an idea for something fun to build.
Chapters:
00:00 A cookie clicker for humans and AI
00:27 The prompt I started with
00:41 Saving clicks in a database
01:16 Adding MCP tools
01:29 MCP in plain language
02:09 Testing with MCP Inspector
03:11 Asking ChatGPT for the click count
03:40 Clicking a cookie with Codex CLI
04:10 What will you build?
If you are wondering whether your website is affected, we have packaged a Codex skill to help check.
Point your Codex at this repo to guide you through it: github.com/openai/php2shell-…
OpenAI models helped researchers—operating as part of our Patch the Planet initiative—discover critical security flaws in PHP, an open-source programming language used to run an estimated 70% of websites.
Over the past two months, we led a coalition of maintainers, researchers, and security providers to prepare fixes and protections ahead of disclosure. This duration was necessary because the fix was quite intricate and required a major change to the PHP engine. Every site using PHP can now safely upgrade their version to stay secure, in addition to applying mitigations from various security vendors.
Due to the severity of these flaws and PHP’s widespread use, we consider this bug to be one of the most impactful vulnerabilities in recent memory. It also marks a new phase, where AI can find security bugs with internet-scale impact.
This is an example of the Defender’s Window in action: to our knowledge, frontier AI was able to find this vulnerability ahead of attackers, giving defenders time to prepare.

I am very grateful Aleksander accepted our request to come take this on; the safety and security challenges in front of us as we confront superintelligence are immense, and he has an excellent set of skills to work on this.
Personal update: Turns out that what I thought was leaving OpenAI became more of a sabbatical.
When I left a few months ago, I felt that the most important thing to focus on was making AI more useful to people. But we’ve since entered a different regime of AI progress. One in which getting the safety and security challenges of increasingly capable AI right has to become a central priority.
So I’ll be returning to OpenAI, joining @merettm to help chart a path through these challenges.
There’s much work to do, so let’s get going.

There were reports of usage draining faster than anticipated for some users over the weekend. We've identified approximately 40,000 accounts that had an inconsistency on which usage limits where the actual usage that was applied did not correspond to their actual selected plan. We are reaching out individually to all these users and have corrected the issue. If this affected you, we'll add credits to your account. Sorry we got this wrong.

the story behind this billboard is my fav
chloe and i did this tv show style competition on building an iOS app with codex to bring communities together
we built a simple app where u can swipe on spontaneous hangouts on ur college campus so you can meet more ppl outside your major
there we met the goat @romainhuet and did a lot of discussing on marketing strats for oai directly aimed to students
i have an educational platform with 350k followers so brainstorming ideas for a company like them was very fun
then we won the chatgpt student grant, then later on romain asked if we wanted to do a commercial on how codex helped us build finnie (our fin aid tool to help students go to college for free)
of course we said yes
shot the whole commercial, sam altman introduced our video on dev day stage, we had our own codex originals booth.
so so so many ppl involved in this production that make this reality, and shoutout oai for amplifying our mission
also DM me if u work in college enrollment or recruiting lol

We just shipped dot widgets and Action button support on iOS. Here’s how to set those up, plus the Shortcuts trick I used for the camera button.

What is ChatGPT Space, that is the question. Endearingly awkward at times because it's the actual team working on it. What would you like to see next?
